Pedersen: I want to stay at Rovers

MORTEN Gamst Pedersen admits he hopes he does have a future at Blackburn Rovers after insisting he will let his football do the talking at Ewood Park.

The Norwegian midfielder marked his Rovers eight-year anniversary with the winning goal in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City before re emphasising his commitment to the club post match.

Pedersen’s celebration included grabbing a walking stick from Rovers’ kit man in response to the summer criticisms of global advisor Shebby Singh towards him – when he was likened to a pensioner.

But, after helping the club to their best league start for more than a decade, Pedersen was not about to get embroiled in any war of words He said: “I am not going to say all my thoughts because I think that is between me, the management and the owners. I have never been that guy, I try to keep things away from the media in that way.

“Of course I read newspapers, people talk to me and you hear things. Sometimes you are wondering what is going on.

“Yesterday (Sunday) was eight years since I signed. I said earlier I am committed to Blackburn. I was one of the first people to say this.

“It is not always up to what you say though. I am happy here, it is not always you see a footballer stay at a club so long. I have had offers to leave before but I have stayed.

“It was a good celebration. It was good to score. When I arrived at Ipswich the walking stick was hanging on my place.

“I can’t control what people are saying. If I have a problem with someone, I will go and see them and sort it that way. It is easier than doing it through the media.

“The main thing is to get back to the Premier League, that is where we want to be. It is going to be a tough journey but I hope I can be a part of it.”

Pedersen was quick to admit Rovers had not played that well on Saturday but believes the quality their squad possesses can only be good for the future.

“Promotion would be fantastic,” said Pedersen. “It was a really tough year last year but if we can get a good feeling and go straight back up, it would be amazing. I hope I can be a part of it.

“It was important to win, although maybe we didn’t play our best football. I think if we can have that extra quality that helps us in these tough games.

“We played one of the favourites to go up and okay they tried but we have won on a day where we didn’t play our best.

“This is a different league to play in. You have to adapt to it. It is not an easy league because the games come thick and fast.

“It is good for us to have a good start but it is going to be tough.”

That's good news , I don't know whether peders will be able to play a full season in the championship but we need experience players like him in the squad . Why not get him involved in the coaching side of things

Does anybody actually know who placed him on the transfer list.
Kean or Shebby.

"...best league start for more than a decade....",

A "start" is considerably longer than three games in a season of 46. Why not compare just the first day as a start? How much better was that?

If you are going to continue using this phrase then please qualify it with "in the lowest division for over a decade due entirely to the new owners' and manager's incompetence".

Don't be fooled again.

It is my understanding that Kean has no input regarding transfers either in or out.
Kean out etc

3 games isn't much. I my head a good start is 20 points from 10 games - winning at home and drawing away. So far, they have done that. They haven't yet won me over, but people can learn from mistakes and constant negativity destroys both sides - those criticised and those doing the criticising.

stop nit picking he means its the first time we have won 2 games in a row at the start of a season in 10 years yeah dnt sound much but its just the start the team needs for all the sh1t they have had to deal with to be honest to u if the team went 10 20 30 unbeaten u'd still say it was sh1t and this post is to do with the team not the douche in charge

I wonder if Shebby is being clever with Pedersen much in the same way that several years ago the Wimbledon players were motivated by somebody secretly throwing all their kit in the bath just before a game (one of the staff did it to get them riled up before the game!).
It seems to have worked quite well but then again I think he is too dumb to have worked it out for himself.

Rovers have a decent squad, all they need is a decent manager who can appreciate "pensioners" like Pederson and Rovers will likely go up.

Pedersen is useless. Should have gone a long time ago. Same with Dunn. Generally havent got a real issue with Kean but Shebby was right on this one, although he shouldnt have said what he said publicly.

Don't leave Morten, the club is being run like a circus and you have received unfair critism but you are still one of our best players as proved by your quality finish against Leicester.

Myself and lot's of true Rovers fans appreciate the loyalty and commitment you have shown to the Rovers over the years, most of our star players tend to think the grass is greener elsewhere and move to a bigger club after having a couple of good seasons (Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Warnock, Bentley to name a few).

If these Imposters ruining our once proud club force you out i will be very dissapointed because i was hoping you would stay long enough for a testimonial as it does'nt happen very often these days.

Also i would like to say thanks Morten and good luck for the future i you are sold, you will alway's be a Rovers legend in my eyes.

I'm one of those Reg - MGP is and has been a great and loyal stalwart for BRFC.

Shebby's comments at the meeting were meant to throw up controversy, and this does seem to have put a rocket up a few backsides, but that said, I was furious with Shebby over this comment, and I let him know that MGP should not be used as a scapegoat/tool here for the abject failings of season last. I did concur to Shebby's train of thought that dynamism, hunger and drive was required in large doses down at Ewood if they wish to succeed ?

MGP has had a torrid time with a section of supporters in relation to what the expectations are of him in his time at BRFC, but I will say that watching him over seasons I have my view just as to why he his always included in the team - quality (IMO)

Injured ? Never.
Booked ? Infrequently
Always gives his best whether he his under performing(along with the team)

MGP's do not come along very often - 8 years say's it all for me.

Although Miller11 will kill me next time he see's me over these comments !

MGP(IMO) will prove invaluable this season, and I want him to remain down at Ewood for this darn revolution that is taking place.

Just a thought ?

I agree, Morten is the epiteme of a professional footballer. I'd sooner have him than some loon like Barton who you lose for half a season and fails to put a sock on his mouth telling everyone how great he is. MGP is a star for being so dignified. If it was me I'd have said, I don't take notice of a third worlds version groucho marks. MGP will be very good in this division
Karl pikington just has to get the rest of them going, he'd do better getting more out of murphy who has been a bit flat for me.

Anyone else find this wierd?
.
If there is one player who has gone down in form and played like a twonk and looked dis-interested since Kean became manager it is Pedersen. He looked a certain casualty as the last of rovers quality squad of Mark Hughes to finally be pushed out.
.
But the enemy of my enemy is my friend and complete with walking stick in dug out how fast has Kean moved to side with Pedersen against Shabby? Its all a complete bloody farce and these Tw*ts with a capital T are all being paid millions and bringing shame on Uncle Jacks club.
.
The 12,000 must reamin away until Kean goes. Don't give in - record Barca and watch them on sat until he goes!
