Kean insists there is more to come from Blackburn Rovers
7:54pm Saturday 25th August 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
STEVE Kean believes there is a lot more to come from his Blackburn Rovers side after seeing them make their best start to a campaign for more than a decade.
Morten Gamst Pedersen's 79th minute winner was enough to earn the hosts a fortuitous 2-1 win over Leicester City, giving them seven points from their first three games.
Kean said: "I don't know if it was fortunate. When you have the quality we do in the side, like Nuno Gomes and Morten Pedersen, they can produce something special.
"I would say we were not in full flow but that is the sign of a good team.
"If we are not right at the top end but can still grind out results, it is worth saying we were only eight minutes and an unfortunate own goal away from three wins.
"I think that bodes well. It is a solid start and I think there is a lot more to come."

bburnrover wrote:Not sure bburnrover exactly what Blackpool's result has to do with the Rovers? Maybe you know of a special rule in the championship where it says that we not only have to get results - but that we have to beat every other teams results? Where does that leave Ipswich then under this special rule, as they beat Watford in midweek? The only games that matter are the ones the Rovers play. The only scores that matter are the ones in the Rovers matches.Maybe it would be better if you concentrated on that instead of watching for the results of other teams to try and make a nonsensical point.
Well you know what they say about winning when you play poorly its championship form , Kean points out it can only imrove just a pity he cannot see that he doesn't. The players and Kean thought Ipswich were a good side and yet Blackpool pulverised them 6-0 so how could that happen? Please ask him Andy in yor next interview ad mention to him that te fans are unhappy that we are not playing good football and would he agree with us?.

Rochina showed some quality when he came on although he was clearly short of match fitness and he will devastate defences at this level. Goodwillie looked up for it and should have scored at the death to have made it 3-1. That would have been unbelievable but let's just go with it. It's about time we had some good fortune alongside the grind.
Wins bring confidence and the performances will only get better.
Nobody wants Kean at the Club but even if the resuts are in spite of him they are cause for joy.

Many people in modern Britain mistake being negative and cynical for being realistic, its the fashion. The reality is, as I have posted many times over the last year, that boycotts and demonstrations make no difference to the Venkys. For them saving face in their own country is of paramount importance, they could not care less about fans boycotting matches. The reality now is that Venkys look like owning Rovers for many years, Mrs.D feels sorry for SK, because of all the stick he took, so he didn't even lose his job in last years debacle and he doesn't look like losing it in the near future. I'm afraid you boys doing the saturday afternoon Debenham's run with the wives will be doing it for a long long time for absolutely nothing.
On the plus side we have had 3 good results, even though performances have been poor. The administration of the club now looks much better than last year and I am sure that I saw us try to pass the ball on at least 4 occasions during yesterdays match. The defence looks solid, Givet giving everything as usual. Except for the bad back pass (Although Robbo was asleep on his line), Dann played well. I like Jason Lowe on the right side of midfield, he's a good athlete and protects the full back. wish we had bought a good strong left back.
I'm not a Danny Murphy fan, I can't remember him ever playing well against us, but I can understand why we bought him. Perhaps because of his reputation teams will give us more respect than we deserve. Etutu looks an excellent signing, we could certainly have done with him last year. We look weak going forward, pity Richards and Best are not fit to play at the same time. I would like to see Rochina get a run of games, he still looks like he could make an excellent player given the chance.
The reality is that getting promoted is a tough tough job, Sam Allardyce had by far the best squad last season with a lot more money than the other team, but he only made it by the skin of his teeth. None of us are confident that SK can guide the team to promotion, many others have already said this before, but the stay away fans are achieving absolutely nothing, they are only hurting themselves by not going to matches. Forget the owners and the manager and support your team.

It's difficult to judge, but everyone says it was a fortunate win, Man U also had a fortunate win against Fulham, they will have many more fortunate wins as they get to the top or near to the top of the Premiership, that's the reality of football. Blackpool are flying, playing extremely well under an excellent manager, but that level is not easy to maintain.

The football isn't the most fluent yet but there are some good signs - Robinson plays the ball out, we don't launch every free kick into the opposition box, we keep possession better (OK a bit too slow and sideways but given the confidence of winning that will get better). Because we keep possession the back 4 aren't under constant pressure. We have a stronger centre midfield. Non Gomes has class, shame we don't have Best and C K-R is injured. We just need to get Rochina and Goodwillie with ganes under their belt. Two away games coming up but at least we can face them with some hope - unlike last season.

Tell us what percenage of your 12000 missing ST holders are absent as a result of the meaningless 'boycott'?
If you look at Bolton, as a comparable club both geographically and as a club having suffered relegation last season, their average attendance so far this season is also significantly down - by 6200 or 26%. There is no Kean / Venkys factor there.
Clearly, and understandbly, there are those who decline to buy a season ticket as a consequence of their hatred of Kean and Venkys but to suggest that that number is anywhere near 12000 does you little credit.
You cannot merely choose to ignore the other factors that have led to people staying away nor should you hijack them to validate your own version of reality.

I'm sure the word 'fortuitous', has appeared in all three match reports on Rovers so far this season.

My expectations were at the lowest ever at the start of the season and I would still like to see a different manager - but having gone to the first 2 home games I have to say that despit two mediocre performances what has spoiled the enjoyment more than anything is the tiresome Kean Out chants. The lads are winning lets give them encouragement.
