Rao: Shebby will make real difference

VENKATESH Rao believes Shebby Singh will prove pivotal to restoring relations between Blackburn Rovers and their fans as the club target an immediate return to the Premier League.

Singh was appointed as Rovers’ new global advisor earlier this summer and has been given the role of overseeing events at Ewood Park as Venky’s attempt to turn around the club’s fortunes, with relegation leaving many supporters disillusioned with both the owners and manager Steve Kean.

“Unless they are happy, we are not happy,” Rao said about the fans. “The day they are happy, we are happy.

“We are trying to bring all of the changes, whether it is players or management, at the end of the day the fans will look at the results.

“Now he (Singh) is here to talk to the fans, build relations, tackle the local problems day to day and see that they are satisfied. He is right there at the ground level and that’s what he’s doing now – not only talking to fans but also talking to players, talking to other management.

“I think overall it’s a very good move and you will see the fruits.”

Venky’s resisted calls to change the manager, however, with Kean remaining in place.

Rao was non-committal about Kean’s future at the start of the summer but now says they decided to be loyal to the Scot.

“Usually what happens is that we just change X, Y, Z, we change the manager and the pressure is off,” he said.

“But that’s not the end of the story, the reality is that we have to produce results, we have to give some time out and we have to work like a team and unfortunately this (relegation) has happened.

“But I hope and know God willing we will go back as fast as possible.

“We met a couple of times, we have a series of meetings and he is also under pressure and we want to get back as fast as possible because that’s where we belong.”

Did anyone see this interview with Venketesh Rao on SKY?

I saw it yesterday and the really interesting bit is where they show the end of a press conference (to introduce Gomes I think) and Kean gets up at the end and walks straight past Shebby and out the room without even acknowledging him or even looking at him. It was very telling and there is certainly no love lost there between those two.

Kean must really hate Shebby, as his little Stevie-empire is being overseen now, which is good news for all of us. Cos if Kean doesn't toe the Shebby/Venky line then he will be out sooner than anyone thought possible.

Honestly do these clowns never learn.

Shabby cooked his goose the minute he backtracked on Kean whilst telling us all that Fester had got Fulham promoted. What a fool.

I wrote a very polite letter to Shabby asking him a few key questions as a season ticket holder of 25 years.

Nothing back. No courtesy. I have worked in business all my life. Is this how the new link to the fans should treat its customers.

Everytime I see another announcement from "the club" I cringe and prepare myself to feel more frustration, disgust and anger at just how patronising they are.

Keep up the boycott. They think we are all sheep who will continue to pay.

I am a little concerned that some are seeing Shebby as some sort of saviour, this maybe driven by the overriding wish to see SK gone at any price.
However, as before, be careful what you wish for. This is a Venkys appointment and so far their judgement has been good???
I will not see any positives in anything until I see what I consider as real tangible demonstration of corrective actions.

I havent seen it but I posted this info 2/3 weeks ago - SK/PA HATE SS appointment because until this point they were appointing all their own lackies to the club and also SS reports directly to Mrs D - a job SK used to do and now he has lost that direct line of comunication top her and so his position is definately alot weaker. Also SS has now come to Ewood and rules the place - so in effect, what is PA job ? (just a suck up, drinking mate crony for SK - nothing more, in reality).
.
The report on SS so far have been good - most people, club employees, BRAG etc that have met him have said that he talks openly about the problems at the club - and understands them. He knows everyone hates Kean and I heard that he told some fans last week that SK has "less than 5 games" if we start badly - time will tell, I still have my doubts whether that will happen.
.
As for VR - he talks some crap. He knows SK is useless and would love to get rid of him put weilds as much power as the rest of us.
.
If Venkys allow SS to sack Kean then most of us fans would allow them to have a second chance - but until that point NOTHING has changed - its just hot air and bull$hit.

Andy, like you I was at he Crown Ground on Saturday where I saw Shebby Singh in deep converstion with Kean. I did not see him making an effort to talk to the fans, though. If as Mr Rao says part of his brief is to communicate with fans he had the perfect opportunity. However, he must have heard the verbal resentment directed to Kean by the fans.

"Unless they are happy, we are not happy,” Rao said about the fans. “The day they are happy, we are happy".
It's perfectly simple Mr. Rao, remove Kean from the club and the fans will give the owners a chance. I for one will buy my season tickets again.
Andy, do Rao, Singh etc take note of comments posted on here? Are you able to have a dialogue directly with them? Or, do they rely on feedback from Agnew and/or Kean, which will undoubtedly be sanitised.

It is very simple for Venky's. Just winning games is not the way, by itself, to be popular. One of the most respected managers in the game and a safe pair of hands (no matter what his detractors might say) was dumped without even a conversation. He was replaced by a very, very, poor apology for a manager who has treated the suppoters badly.
JUSTSACK HIM AND YOU ARE ARE ON THE WAY TO BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE FOR THE CLUB.

yes agree that it is actions and not words needed now. That would help ease the fan pressure and it should be a simple step to see that the only action now to get anything near unity at the club is to sack Kean.
Before the season starts.
What an impetus that would give the club and fans to start the season with. I almost don't care who would replace Kean as even a blind one legged granny would be a massive improvement on the odious one.

Venkatesh I hope you read these columns, if you want to make the fans happy you MUST sack Kean. Its no longer about results, if he was to win every game this season and be promoted many fans including myself will not be back until he has gone.

His actions over the last 18 months are unforgivable and he will never have the backing of the majority of the fans, the club will never move forward and be united until the so called manager is removed.

Maybe we could play in closed stadiums or just sell tickets to away supporters or just give Blackburn "fans" the Darwen end. Im so angry and ashamed of our "supporters," we really are an embarrassment to football and humanity as a whole. I would genuinely prefer at this stage to see the club go to the wall and for the "fans" to be left with absolutely nothing than to see them hound kean or the owners out. What is most telling about the Colin Hendry lies web site is that it is still up after so long. If the allegations were false you would have thought that he would have issued legal proceedings and sued them. The fact that he hasn't indicates to me that what is said is largely true. That being the case, irrespective of how good he was as a footballer, he should not be offered a role at BRFC.

Im so angry and ashamed of our "supporters," we really are an embarrassment to football and humanity as a whole. I would genuinely prefer at this stage to see the club go to the wall and for the "fans" to be left with absolutely nothing than to see them hound kean or the owners out. Its the only fair solution for all the disparate parties involved. Bankrupt the club, strip the assets, sell the pitch to tesco
Talking sh*t,get real, kean will get it from the first game until he is sacked and dont be ashamed because 99%of brfc fans dont accept you as a true rovers fan any way.You prefer to see the club go to the wall? kean and venkys are doing that for you not the fans YOU NOB

It was very telling and there is certainly no love lost there between those two. Kean must really hate Shebby, as his little Stevie-empire is being overseen now, which is good news for all of us. Cos if Kean doesn't toe the Shebby/Venky line then he will be out sooner than anyone thought possible.
is that not a bit of a leap FR? he could have just been incredibly in need of the toilet...?
i am slightly reassured that the arrival of singh will mean a closer scrutiny of what is successful and positive, but i guess we need to see how things pan out. kean has certainly had his chances, so it is up to him now to prove everyone else wrong.
Come on fitz808 he needs the toilet ? Quite possibly a tongue in cheek response from yourself, but..........

I know of an incident for fact that materialized down at Brockhall of utter disdain from our beloved and beleaguered supposed manager.

His record, as we all know, stinks and I don't see it improving, personally !

The Odious One must arrive at the realization that he is also expendable rather than bullet proof as he has become over these last 2 years.

If that atmosphere exists between SS and SK then it can only be of benefit for BRFC in the wider context, in my opinion ?

Yes, Mr French very telling indeed.

One thing I do believe here is that Shebby is the enforcer for failure, and should fire this sorry ****'d imposter if and when he does just that ?

As most on here keep saying, we are going round and round in circles asking for Kean to be sacked. But what else can we do?
If anybody has a positive suggestion then speak now!
We just spend our days reading and writing on these pages. Back and forth, back and forth. A calls B, B calls A. Sometimes something constructive but mostly not. Still it passe the time, each day one day nearer to the start of the season and then the fun begins. Ipswich game is going to be the most intensely scrutinised game in the history of Kean. Then the first home game, what will we make of that?

Of course they did, as will pretty much everyone he's met since coming over. He even acknowledges (as does Venkatesh in the interview) that sacking the manager would take the pressure off (the relationship between the owners and fans). So he's in no doubt how the fans feel and under no illusions it's a pesky 1% of troublemakers.

We know (from his TV work) he doesn't think Kean is up to the job. We have anecdotal evidence (from multiple people in the room) he and others advised Madame to sack Kean at the start of the summer and for whatever reason Kean got a stay of execution.

Therefore reading between the lines, it's pretty obvious that Shebby can't justify sacking Kean until he does something NEW wrong (otherwise it would be directly countermanding his boss) but I strongly suspect he'll jump at the first real chance he gets .... and if he doesn't, then I fear and they've employed a charmer to get the fans back on side, which in itself is ironic given the none-footballing side of the club is now run by a former PR guy.

The main problem I could see from the comments here is not Venky's,Shebby singh or Kean. It is simply the maturity to understand and perceive what the present management is trying to do revive Blackburn Rovers and return to Premier League next season (2013-2014). Many comments here are irrational and speak out of prejudice but not based on substance. You condemn at everything about Venky's,Shebby singh or Kean without giving them a fair chance to improve the situation. Some are such an idiots who dont even know a little things about Shebby yet you are quick to pass unwarranted remarks not fitting to his colourful credentials. Just for you info Shebby was a former Malaysian national footballer and played for several local clubs producing great results.

Titus James Palani is also no fluke as young boy at the age of 12 years he had already shown great potentials. He was the only one player selected by a French scout to train in a French Football Academy. It is very sad and unfortunate the he did not make it to 2nd and subsequently to French 1st Ligue much to the disappointment to many Malaysians, especially me. But this shortcomings in his career is definitely not a question about doubts in skill, talent or quality. Most probably I think in my opinion it could be his agent or his managers did not make an true effort market him to top level football. The same could have happened like the manner you racial bigots who are all out "kill" this aspiring talented and worthy Malaysian footballer from having an opportunity to show his great potentials. I wonder if we could find any more no marks from the football scrap heap and give them a trial or a contract. Myles, Bruno and and now Titus have all been given an opportunity so perhaps we can get a few more in.

Anyone know were Corrado Grabbi is, maybe he wasn't really given a fair crack the first time around, shall we get him back just to make sure?

Sick of hearing Keans comments and now sick of hearing the clueless clown Rao ,every time he opens his deluded mouth he makes himself and the club look a joke. The Venkys are freeloading on our proud clubs history and the sooner they have packed up and gone the better Blackburn Rovers and the town will be.

The dream is to get the football club back from lunatics, who cares about Malaysian ball jugglers who failed to make the French League. His race or nationality isn't important, he has never played at the level required.

Don't worry the Malaysian kid obviously has the right agent now, personally all I want to see are players who are capable of playing at Championship level and a professional football manager.

It was very telling and there is certainly no love lost there between those two.

Kean must really hate Shebby, as his little Stevie-empire is being overseen now, which is good news for all of us. Cos if Kean doesn't toe the Shebby/Venky line then he will be out sooner than anyone thought possible.

So your soluton is to ban anyone who doesn't conform or 'toe the line'.
This sounds like Germany of the late 1930's. Not such an outlandish reference, but the comparisons are stark.
By the way the shot of Keans 'minder' from saturday was stomach churning in the extreme. All it said to me was: Hoodlum!
I abhor any sort of abusive, aggressive behaviour. I dislike the continued chanting, as I see no end product forthcoming and being counter productive.
BUT, to say anyone attending should have no say negative should be banned is totally beyond my comprehension as the way run a football club, or a society i.e. 1984 !

I am so, so glad I elected to walk away e.o. 2010/2011 as I did not like the way this was heading.

Shabby will make no difference at all except in one important regard. When it becomes apparent that Rovers are unable to compete in the Championship, which should be by the end of October, then Shabby will fire Kean or get him fired in order to save his own skin. They are both frauds and incompetents, of course, but the one thing they are good at is realpolitik. They have never had anything else to survive on their whole lives. French Rover observes each recognises the other for what he is - a freeloader.
PS: Note to Colin Hendry, "could you lend me a fiver (that's five thousand, of course)".

Yes, Mr French very telling indeed. One thing I do believe here is that Shebby is the enforcer for failure, and should fire this sorry ****'d imposter if and when he does just that ? What I would give for BRFC to succeed this Championship season ! Dann linked with Southampton. Better someone gets on the phone to find a replacement for our creaking defense ! Still no reply from LET on email ? I'll go back in late today see if I can get it nailed ? The sun is out here thus eat your heart out !! Arte et labore
Hi RR - lovely day here too - expected to be 30 plus for the next two weeks. They back to the dreary mid twenties C. The endless sunshine does get a bit boring and I do miss the black clouds from Manchester that I used to watch fondly sailing past Darwen Tower every day. No reply from the LET on our requests. If you can do anything from your side that would be good. As for Desperate Dann going to Southampton, well that could be a good hat-trick for him -would make it three clubs he took down from the prem - Birmingham, Rovers and Southampton! Maybe our defence will improve just with his absence... Bon apres-midi RR.
Will do Mr French.......... We are lapping up the sun while we have it, and Darwen Tower is looking good today under the glow of the sun ! Rolling dark clouds soon to return, but not just yet ! Bon apres-midi FR

People asking for Venky's to sack Kean before the season starts need to understand that they've missed the boat, so to speak. If they were to sack him now, after already keeping their faith in him, he would probably sue them for unfair dismissal. I hate to say it but the only way his position will become untenable is if the team struggles. If we want Rovers to do well we have to accept that Kean will also stay.

As for Shebby Singh, he may have the authority to hire and fire most of the staff but I suspect that he won't be able to sack Kean without Mrs Desai's blessing. Quite what he's done to be given such a powerful position is also questionable, his CV certainly suggests that he's not qualified. His U-turn on Kean seems to suggest that he's just another yes man, his comments about Kean helping Fulham gain promotion proves he'll repeat anything he's told to without researching the facts and his lie about his compatriot Palani playing in the French third division shows that he's taking the rest of us for mugs, just like Kean and the owners.

Very true, sad thing is fans on here are clinging to anything that looks remotely like venkys have any remorse and are about to do a complete u turn around and become honest truthful owners with BRFC at their heart ,facts are as most fans now have realized that there is no change just the same old conning game.Expect the worst and it wont be as hard to take this time round.

Talking to a national writer on Saturday. You've taken the words right out of his mouth,"with this lot, careful what you wish for" he said.
Saw the SSN piece Frenchy.I thought the best bit was Shebby stood up on the platform with the in-house camera man, overlooking proceedings.
By the way Frenchy,i was sat about 15 feet from Big Col on Saturday. He was sat on a wall right next to the walkway into the stand.Plenty giving it him on here, but no-one with a big enough pair to do it in a manly fashion.
yep Baldie have to agree, the ones who talk the talk do not usually walk the walk...but then that sort of cyber bully never does.

It was clear even from that little snippet of film on SSN who is in charge now - and it is not Steve Kean.

Time for action Shebmeister...

As for Desperate Dann going to Southampton, well that could be a good hat-trick for him -would make it three clubs he took down from the prem - Birmingham, Rovers and Southampton! Maybe our defence will improve just with his absence...

Seems to me that everyone has their own agendas going on here and only genuine supporters have the club's best interests at heart. This is a complete polar opposite to the situation we were in under Jack. Jack not only had the club at heart, but also the brains to employ the correct people to achieve his objectives.

Yeah AndyW, you are right Steve Kean has failed in his capacity as a manager to consolidate Blackburn Rovers position in EPL 1st Division. I understand your frustration and anger as a Rovers fan. If I were in your shoes I would feel the same but there is something which makes the Venky's hold on to Kean I dont have a clue. In my opinion he should have gone long ago after the last game, he seems to be clueless to turnaround the club's downslide during the last few matches yet he is still there, I am puzzled.

In my comment if you read carefully I only included Kean since he is still around so what I said as a whole. However I still feel Venky's,Shebby singh should be given time to work things out, identify the strength and weakness, bring in new players and a manager who has the reputation for turning things around and plot new strategies for the new season. When we make comments we should not make rash comments without considering pro's and con's, more importantly comments derived from racial prejudice. Yes, the fans may come over a bit rude, but they are passionate and desperate to have a team and club as pasionate as they are for success. Re the owners, manager and agents and god knows what other forces are involved re blind, deaf, naieve, arogant. We simply do not know what thir agenda is! Please, please, please depart gracefully and give the founder member club of the football league back to the town and fans that genuinely care

I am hoping so much the Venky's and Shebby singh will do their best to include this skillful footballer Titus James Palani in Rovers team I will be extremely delighted to see him playing in the new season. Good luck and may the Lord grant you success in your dreams.
Sorry to have to point this out to you EPL.... But the only way Titus could ever get a place in the Blackburn squad would be... IN HIS DREAMS... And don't call me a racist... If he were any good do you not think that he would have been offered a place by another team by now?
Titus James Palani is also no fluke as young boy at the age of 12 years he had already shown great potentials. He was the only one player selected by a French scout to train in a French Football Academy. It is very sad and unfortunate the he did not make it to 2nd and subsequently to French 1st Ligue much to the disappointment to many Malaysians. Haven't you seen and analyzed so many players playing in the EPL who does not even make a cut to play in 3rd div ? some display poor taste football but yet they are still playing in the EPL , HOW ABOUT THAT ?
