Blackburn Rovers defender Salgado ponders Beckham reunion

MICHEL Salgado is weighing up a potential link-up with his former Real Madrid pal David Beckham – after resigning himself to the end of his Blackburn Rovers career.

Rovers’ Spanish defender has been desperate to play a part in the club’s Premier League survival scrap but, still frozen out of the first team picture, knows he will have to continue his career elsewhere next season.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands MLS outfit LA Galaxy, Beckham’s current employers, are just one of several American clubs interested in signing him from Rovers.

There is also interest from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates with Salgado’s current deal expiring this summer and the defender not short of options.

The 36-year-old has only made eight Premier League starts this season, his last game coming in the draw at Wigan in mid-November.

A clause in his contract stipulates that should Salgado play a handful more games for the club he would have been entitled to a year’s extension on his deal.

Salgado though had already told Rovers he would be prepared to leave Ewood in the summer, and forego the clause, no matter how many games he played for them this season.

He hoped the offer would allow him to feature in the club’s scrap to survive but has been left frustrated by their continued refusal to include him.

The Real Madrid legend is understood to be frustrated by the way in which Rovers are being run, having enjoyed his last three years at the club.

Meanwhile Rovers’ Premier League fight has received a boost by the news that defender Gael Givet is expected to be fit for Sunday’s crucial trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Frenchman suffered a dead leg early in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Norwich but played through the pain barrier to last the 90 minutes.

There were early fears that Givet would not make the White Hart Lane clash but there is now full confidence he will available for a game Rovers know they can’t afford to lose.

Bolton’s win at Aston Villa on Tuesday has heaped the pressure on Steve Kean’s men as they sit three points adrift of safety with just three Premier League matches remaining.

Perhaps Michel could have a word with Beckham and find out whay he turned us down. Let's not forget Steve Kean said it was a serious bid we made for him and Ronaldinho.

Of course he also said we will finish in the top half and we definitely wont be relegated. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, the you tube clip Steve Kean Bulls**t man is a must. Comedy at it's best.

I hope he finds a new club and does well. He hasn' been at Rovers a huge amount of time, but always gave absolutely everything. Of course his legs evidently have given up on him, but don't take that away. The guy has quality, and if he becomes a manager one day and does well, would welcome him back with open arms.

Steve kean is a football genious and now a magician whose gonna perform a miracle with the gray escape! Rovers didnt take heed last season when the stayed up at Wolves. The £26,000,000 they got for jones and klasnic should have brought in at least 5 players. Now theyll be playing rubbish teams like Burnley and the rest. At least theyll get 6 easy points v Burnley. Spurs 4 Rovers 1.
At least away match tickets will be cheaper for the 150 fans they take away from home.

From Yesterday
Next season, anything and anyone of value will have to be sold, or even given away.

Desperate Dann got relegated last season with Birmingham, and will demand a move. He feels he is far too good to play at Championship level. He isn't.

Pederson will be on at LEAST 20K a week, and will have to be off loaded, one way or another.

The Yak will bring in a couple of Mil, so will be touted around mid table PL clubs. It's well known that Robbo is VERY sympathetic towards the protesters, and I presume will be another high earner. £20K+ per week? He'll have to go, whether he likes it or not.

I'm also convinced that Venky's will not put another penny into this club, and they'll expect it to be self financing from here on in. Add to that a dramatic fall in ST sales, and walk on fans, and we're in for a VERY difficult end to 2012.

It would not surprise me in the least, if we're not in administration before Christmas, which will obviously incur a 10 point deduction, and the very real prospect of a second successive relegation.

As long as Venky's own the club, Kean will remain as manager, as he's obviously 'in on the act', so to speak.”
The above is a copy of a Stone Island post, is it just me or does this prove that the logic of the posters that say this stuff is totally warped?
We are going down (agreed) We will lose a percentage of the attendances we currently have (agreed)
Venkys will not put money in or cannot (also agreed)
So we all boycott the club and dont buy a ticket thus reducing income still further and thereby achieve yours and Morst's fantasy of the club in administration??
Brilliant , great idea, i can see why you guys are Captains of Industry (NOT)
You have just proved what a hollow stupid idea it will be to try to cut attendance.
It wont hurt Venkys, only our Club. You already say they are only in it for the asset stripping so they would not care about reduced gate money, in your warped world they are going to run off with the main prize (parachute payments ) anyway
You are either very thick or your agenda is in fact what I have long thought it is, the destruction of BRFC. So stop pretending to be one you muppet!

Most players that left the Rovers before the Venky's arrived, look back on their time at the club with affection. They understood that we were a family club but in the PL. We never lost that family feel when we were promoted and 99% of our ex players would never have a bad word for the club. But from the end of this season when the majority of players have left they will have to keep their thoughts to themselves, because if they were to say what they really felt about their time under Kean and the Venky's they would be open to a law suit for defamation. But it would be true.

Yes he seems a very nice and decent bloke and yes he has been a legend - but at Real and not at Rovers. He was a pretty decent acquisition in the first season or so and looked good at RB, but he was getting skinned right left and center earlier this season...his legs had definitely gone even if his is head is ok! He actually became a liability to the team in most games as many on here pointed out.

But he should still be in the squad and on the bench as cover, cos his work ethic and experience and all round enthusiasm are exactly what has been needed and still is...

As for the invisible man Ribiero...seems no-one will ever find out what he is like. Kean and Venkys probably keep him in a cupboard under the stands in case they have to pay him an extra 50p if he is seen in a Rovers shirt.

Tal Ben Haim's agent says the defender will not be at Portsmouth next season.
.
Israel international Ben Haim is one of Pompey's highest earners and still has 12 months remaining on his current contract.
.
The Fratton Park club are eager to offload the 30-year-old as they continue to slash the wage bill after entering administration earlier this year.
.
And agent Pini Zahavi revealed Ben Haim will not be dropping a division next term following Pompey's relegation.

"Tal will not play in League One next season," Zahavi told The News.

"There is interest in him from other clubs. We are looking and when there is something to announce I will announce it. But he definitely will not be playing in League One for Portsmouth.
.
"Keans next signing" perhaps ?.

WE WANT OUR ROVERS BACK ! SORRY IT’S TOO LATE
The protest demonstration by BRFC ACTION GROUP prior to the Norwich game carried banners and placards reading WE WANT OUR ROVERS BACK.
SORRY IT’S TOO LATE. Blackburn Rovers as we have all known it over the years is gone for good unfortunately and not for the better.
Blackburn Rovers fans have to shoulder some of the blame.
DON’T SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED.
I posted an article on my website and on the Lancashire Telegraph website warning every one of the implications and consequences of the Venky’s take over, the appointment of Steve Kean, the departure of Sam Allardyce, the demise of Chairman John Williams and Chief executive Tom Finn and most of all the appointment of agent Jerome Anderson as advisor.
To say that my opinions and observations were derided is putting it mildly.
I was slaughtered by all and sundry including being banned from the Lancashire Telegraph by Editor Kevin Young as being “inflammatory”.
My opinions were condemned by former players including Chris Sutton and mocked an abused by almost all Blackburn supporters but my opinions never wavered from the article BLACKBURN ROVERS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN posted on my website 14 03 1, click this link to follow (http://www.regofthe
rovers.co.uk/a-f/bla
ckburn-rovers.html?s
tart=165 and subsequent articles since.
I received no support apart from a small minority that like me saw the bigger picture these included correspondents under the name of County Antrim Rover, Monkey Nuts, just two who saw the dangers that I saw and how right we were.
The apathy from supporters on the takeover by Mrs Anuradha Desai and her family and the subsequent sacking of Sam Allardyce was staggering, hardly a voice was raised in protest as £££ signs flashed in front of supporters eyes. As everyone listened to the drivel from the Rao family about marquee signings and even Maradonna was mentioned as a possible manager. What utter nonsense, but they all fell for it, ‘hook line and sinker’.
Greed took over and common sense went out of the window. Promises of Champions League were lost in translation, what they really meant was Championship League!
We are all now reaping the rewards of greed and naivety. But what is done
Is done and what has gone on is in the past. We must all pull together to rid us of this disastrous regime. Getting rid of Kean is key. We might all see the Venky’s in a different light if they were to give us a decent manager.
Needless to say I have now over 23,000 faithful followers and we are all mainly ‘singing from the same song sheet’.
Opinions continue to differ slightly but that is the magic of football.

WHY NOT A VISUAL PROTEST?
Just a thought. It is widely known that Steve (the man who cannot win football matches) Kean despises Sam Allardyce, the man who took him from the dole que and gave him a Premiership coaching job (big mistake Sam).
It is widely known that Mrs Anuradha (I like to be entertained) Desai and her brothers will not admit to the error they made in sacking a proven manager on the advice of disgraced football agent Jerome (the man who ruined Blackburn Rovers) Anderson.
It is widely known that Allardyce and Anderson do not like each other.
So why not forget any verbal protest at the Wigan game, why don’t BRFC ACTION GROUP have made and distribute 10,000 face masks of Sam Allardyce for us all to wear whilst we watch the game and cheer the team on. I will certainly wear one, no security problems, they will fit in the pocket perfectly, no banners needed. Just a silent protest wearing a Sam Allardyce mask will say it all and realy get under Kean’s skin. It might even inspire the players!
IT IS PAY BACK TIME FOR BIG SAM AND US ALL.
Reg

Footnote:
To cover the costs of the masks a charge can be made and have them on sale in participating shops, pubs etc and outside the ground.
Worth £1.00 of anyone’s money.

He wont be sacked, we will be relegated, but Kean will then spout off about how he will lead us back to the promised land at the first time of asking.

Don't forget, Venky's think he is a brilliant manager, so they wont sack him. We are stuck with him, so the only way forward is to use the silent protest. No season tickets, no show at all, five homes games in and the message will be ,loud and clear. We will be in the bottom half of the championship by then, with a squad full of cheap league two players at best. The sooner we get them out, the better the chance or survival and I mean survival from oblivion. If you think Pompey have had it bad, you aint seen nothing yet. Be afraid, be very afraid.
