  • "Well done boys...at least the youth manager didn't forfeit the chance of a cup run. This is the real legacy of Uncle Jack....no doubt the owners are now looking at ways of selling the youth team and ruining the Academy like they've destroyed everything else at the club"

Blackburn Rovers reach FA Youth Cup semis

BLACKBURN Rovers are into the semi finals of the FA Youth Cup after a penalty shoot-out victory at Newcastle United tonight.

Michael Hoganson put the hosts ahead in the 20th minute but Ryan Edwards levelled with a header from Raheem Hanley’s cross six minutes later.

Newcastle were back in front eight minutes after half time as Jonathan Hooper found the net, only for Rovers substitute Robbie Cotton to make it 2-2 with a deflected effort.

Rovers: Urwin, Wylie, Edwards, O’Connell, Beesley (Mason 81), Hands (Cotton 73), R Hanley, O’Sullivan, Osawe, Haley (Payne 115), Fernandez. Subs not used: Dilo, Paul.
