RUBEN Rochina is determined to show Steve Kean that he is ready for a Blackburn Rovers recall as the perfect foil for the in-form Yakubu.
Rochina impressed in the opening months of the season with six goals in 12 appearances but has not started a league game since the 3-2 win at Manchester United on New Year’s Eve.
The Spaniard has been an unused substitute in the last two matches and knows he may have to be patient for a return to the side following the weekend victory over QPR.
But Rochina has vowed to continue pushing for a place and, despite often operating on the flanks this season, believes he can prove most effective as a support for lone striker Yakubu.
Mauro Formica occupied that position on Saturday, with David Dunn also previously operating in the role.
“They are very good players and I try to compete with them and the manager decides who will play,” said the 20-year-old, who joined team-mates Mauro Formica and Adam Henley for an autograph session with supporters yesterday.
“I prefer to play behind the striker with the free movement in this area.
“Usually I play in the wings but I try to do the best I can.
“If the manager puts me in the wings I play in the wings, if he puts me behind the striker I will play behind the striker.
“The most important thing for a player is to play.
“I am not playing now but sometimes this is what happens in football.
“The manager decides who plays and I need to wait for my opportunity.
“I have confidence in myself but sometimes you need to play to take big confidence with you, it’s the only thing.
“I am doing best my in training and every game but I can do nothing more, I will just wait for my opportunity and try to work harder.”
Rochina had to watch from the bench as Rovers defeated QPR but believes the result has given them a good chance of staying in the Premier League this season.
“It was a really good victory,” he said.
“We needed three points but the team played very well in the first half, scored three goals.
“In the second half we thought with the first half the game was won but this is wrong, the other team came back well and the score was 3-2.
“It’s very tight, there are five or six teams at the bottom but we need to try to play well and keep going.
“I am enjoying Blackburn, it’s nice for me, it’s a new experience and I am happy.
“I think we have a good team to stay up.
“I think we will stay in the Premier League next season.”

What Hoilett does is force teams onto the back foot, Taiwo never made it forward once before he was injured on Saturday. Which is why it was bizarre that Rochina (who could have done similar) was left on the bench and replaced by a full back who didnt fit the system which as you say is working well. This may be where criticism of the manager comes from (well from me anyway)
Rochina has definitely shown that he has good technique and ability whenever he's got chance (lets face it, La Masia wouldn't accommodate anything else), however he does drift in and out of games.
The problem, for me, is that our constant plight against relegation and therefore pressure and importance of each match isn't the right situation to bring in this type of player.
And for those using this as a chance for a dig at Kean: Scoring isn't a problem and the Yak is thriving in the current formations, so I don't understand how switching to 442 would help? Particularly as it would put even more emphasis on hoilett to perform defensive duties - which is where the real problem is.

Most of the goals we concede are from shots within our own box. The save from the Senderos header in the Fulham win was a massive moment in that game. That said, I though Bunn did well in his stint over xmas, and was somewhat unlucky to lose his place.
Dont worry Ruben, i'm sure Steve will consider you in defence at some point before the season ends....
What about goalkeeper? Just kidding.
Why was Rochina left out in the first place?
Come on Mr Kean pull your finger out.

Interesting article today on Paul Robinson on wildblackburnrover website, showing how our Paul, has the worst shots to save ratio in the prem. Why dont we give Mark Bunn a go? Paul is clearly a poor keeper, the statistics do not lie in this one...and I cannot help thinking that shocking defence aside. Part of the blame lies with his poor shot stopping from shots hit outside the box.

WILL VENKY’S SEEK LEGAL ACTION??
With the Venkys brand name in tatters throughout the world due to their association with the failing Blackburn Rovers, will Venky’s seek damages for being badly advised by the people they employed to advise them?
If they consider they have been damaged both professionally, personally and financially they could seek legal redress for damages.
Just who they would do that from is not clear because according to their ‘advisor’ Jerome Anderson neither he or his company have played any part in policy at the club, as he stated publically on Sky TV Sports News on 10th January 2012. Anderson denied any involvement in matters including the departures of manager Sam Allardyce, chairman John Williams, and chief executive Tom Finn. He also denied any involvement in the appointment of the worst manager in Blackburn’s history, Steve Kean or the recruitment of any players including his son Myles, on a Premiership contract. So that’s alright then! So who do Venky’s sue?
On their own admission the Rao family stated they had no knowledge of running a premiership football club and were appointing advisors to do so. According to press reports those advisors were allegedly SEM Kentaro Sports Agency, headed by Jerome Anderson and including his associate director / advisor Charlie Nicholas. However in the face of Anderson’s denials just who has been advising the Venky’s?
If Blackburn are relegated from the Premiership, which is looking more than likely, the Venky group could claim damages in excess of seventy million pounds in lost revenue and probably more besides.
Could it be that the reason Venky’s have failed to invest in new players of any stature and kept Steve Kean in place, when managers all around him are being fired left right and centre, Is that Venky’s embrace relegation so they can seek legal redress and possibly even place the club into administration.
OR IS THAT TAKING CONSPIRACY THEORIES TO FAR? YOU DECIDE!
With the lack of transparency coming out of Ewood Park and India, theories as to the demise of Blackburn Rovers are bound to happen.
Finally if Venky’s do take legal action for damaging and expensive advice could Blackburn Borough Council and Blackburn Chamber Of Trade not do likewise against Venky’s for the loss of the status of a Premiership Town Club and the damage to business and industry in the area.

All the bottom 5 have difficult games as such. I look at our run-in and think it's gonna be tough, then I look at the others and think they have no chance of getting points from some of their games.

36 points could well be enough. There are 3 teams worse than us, Bolton, Wolves, QPR , with Wigan to be safe also!
