Lowe: Rovers must stay up for town

JASON Lowe has stressed that Blackburn Rovers must remain in the Premier League for the good of the town – and he is confident they can build on Saturday’s win over QPR in his absence.

Lowe picked up his 10th booking of the season in Rovers’ 3-2 victory at the weekend, meaning he will now be suspended for their trip to Manchester City on February 25 and the home game against Aston Villa a week later.

But the young midfielder took encouragement from the QPR win, which ultimately proved enough to lift Rovers out of the relegation zone going into their two-week break, and believes the side can continue to climb the table without him.

Lowe joined Rovers’ academy at the age of 12 and is well aware just how important a Premier League football club is to Blackburn as a whole.

“Blackburn Rovers is the main thing that happens in the town and we’ll do everything we can to make sure we stay in this league,” the 20-year-old said.

“I’m confident we can do that, we just have to keep producing performances and take our chances, and try to get the clean sheets on the board. That’s what’s going to get us out of there.

“But Saturday was a step forward and hopefully we’ll keep going in that direction.

“There’s been a lot of times this season where we’ve performed fantastically well and not got anything from it.

“But I think moving on we just need to keep on with the performances and results will come.

“Arsenal was a disappointing performance, the scoreline spoke for itself, and we needed to bounce back from that.

“I thought we did.”

Lowe, though, admits he is disappointed to have picked up a two-match ban after being booked for fouling Adel Taarabt on Saturday.

“I was aware I was on nine yellows before the game and I’m absolutely gutted about the ban,” he said.

“But at the time when Taarabt’s going through I’m thinking, ‘Do I let him run at the back four or do I take the booking?’.

“I chose to take the booking, it happens in football.

“There have been a few petty yellow cards in there, I’ll hold my hand up, sometimes it’s been a petty one where I’ve not booted the ball away but I might have poked it 10 yards away.

“But I think most of them are for kicking somebody, so I’ll take that.

“I’ve always been a bit of a tackler, it’s nothing new there, but I need to learn to maybe time them a bit better.”

Most Rovers supporters know that if we go down we won't be returning to the premier. So yes Jason your right. It's s--t or bust especially the matches in march. Win most of them and we have a good chance. Lose most of them and it's good bye forever to the premier.

Not sure that no-one should care, football clubs heading for administration are never a good thing. Afterall we may see this closer to home soon (although maybe you'd enjoy that). Clubs in all divisions spending nearly as much on wages as turnover cannot be sustainable. This could and should be British Footballs wake up call

Jason, as far as I'm concerned, I admire your candour in taking it on the chin but while you are banned use the time constructively and do a bit of research into how more mature players in your position play the ball to defend. Watch the way that others do it and learn from them.
Chin up, lad...you're only 20, there's a lot more left in you yet...remember to play the ball, not the man and you won't go far wrong.

Keep Rovers up for our town.We won the league in 1994/95 season and won the carling cup in 2002.Blackburn is a famous town for it's great football club.In retail and leisure the town is a lot behind likes of Preston,Blackpool and Bolton.there is only one thing buzzing around it's our football club. Many big high street stores don't want to invest in Blackburn. We don't even have a four star hotel/conference in town centre like the ones in Preston,Bolton and Blackpool. Many people of Darwen,Feniscowles,R
ibble Valley,Lammack don't do thier shopping in Blackburn instead prefer to go to Preston and Trafford Centre. The club need our support so does our town centre shops.I only support my home town club and i do all my shopping in my town only.I do hope for club sake people of our town support Rovers and their town.

Even the letters on here are stopping, every one is so p-ssed of, I notice a lot more people are deserting Ewood, just over 20,000 against QPR, the whole situation is becoming boring, see you down at Ewood when this lot have left, including Kean, and not before, in my opinion boycotting is still the only way!! BYE BYE

Blackburn Rovers. The most successful town club in the history of English football. Fact.

Another one of those facts that no amount of childish comments from Burnley supporters will ever change.

It's going to take more than this for a wake up call. When the bubble bursts, and it will, foreign players will simply leave the premiership and earn their fortunes abroad.
Why should they care?
