HALF TIME: Blackburn Rovers 0 AEK Athens 2

BLACKBURN Rovers trail AEK Athens 2-0 at half time in their second match of the Sydney Festival of Football.

Rovers started brightly but were undone by a flowing move from the Greeks on 22 minutes.

Nathan Burns raced down the right before crossing for Argentine Nacho Scocco to collect, cut inside Steven Nzonzi and fire the ball into the corner.

Athens' lead was doubled two minutes later when Nikos Liberopoulos collected Leonardo's cross and volleyed past Paul Robinson.

Rovers enjoyed as much of the possession as Athens did but struggled to create any chance of not while the Greeks looked dangerous on the break.

ominous for the start of the new season....no matter what anybody says, without investment there's a massive struggle ahead.

totally agree with spyderleg. just watched 1st hlf of athens game and poor is a understatement !!! until big sam is allowed to bring players in ,rovers will struggle to win any game . no goals scored must be setting the alarm bells ringing for all rovers fans ! i hope imwrong but a relegation battle is on the horizon !

Looks like local derbies with Burnley will be back in vogue in 2011/2012 unless of course, the Clarets do go back to the Premiership. Can't wait to see how the Darwen Rovers go against Sydney FC. No wonder BFS wants out of the place. And thank your mother for the rabbits.

That old ginger nut Robbie Slater was commentating on this game for Fox …for the last 20 min Rovers Couldn’t have played any worse …Big fat Sam is complaining about AEK’s rough tactics & blaming the two young centre halfs ….Can you believe this idiot …Jones was far and away the best player on the pitch and scored a goal to boot, something Roberts could only dream about!

Local derbies with Burnley ?: all 6 of em in 27 years, and we all know the reasons for that dont we? Clarets bumming around in the bottom 2 leagues, and towards the lower end of em.
