Beware the Chelsea backlash, warns Allardyce

SAM Allardyce has warned his Blackburn Rovers side ‘beware the wounded beast’ after suggesting Chelsea’s European exit could give them the Premier League edge.

Chelsea travel to Ewood Park tomorrow on the back of a convincing Champions League defeat to Inter Milan but Rovers boss Allardyce admits he expects the Blues to produce a response.

He said: “If we can spoil the party in their title race, then great. But if they keep playing the way they have been, they are going to be very close to winning the Premier League this year.

“I think Chelsea will react to that defeat. They now have the title to play for and they will be fully focused on that but our form at home is good and we are not going to give them an easy game.

“We are into single figures in games and they have not got the distraction of the Champions League now.

“It probably makes them slight favourites to win the league because they have not got the extra pressure games so they can get ready for the next league match.”

Skipper Ryan Nelsen will miss the game with a knee injury, while Vince Grella (calf), Paul Robinson (calf) and Lars Jacobsen (groin) are also missing.

Nice one Allardyce for stating the obvious.I bet it took you all night to work that one out. Now are you going to go 4-4-2 and get in their faces and try and compete or go 4-5-1 and put us through another humiliating 0-5 and let them pick us off as and when they want?

if we go at it from the starting whistle, we will get something ... we show fear we are dead .... showing fear means formation , we go 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 ... we got chance ... we go 4-5-1 we r dead like a sitting duck ... hope its not a 1 week tormenting session at my workplace(i'm the only rovers supporter)

No matter what formation Ally dice plays, man for man Chelsea are superior blimey, even their second string are! If we escape with a 0-2 we’ll have done well-not negative just realistic. Only one way we’ll get anything out of this match, the Man U & the Arsenal games is, if Rovers players play at 100% of their capabilities and the opposition don’t!

Hey guys - take a trip over to the Dingles match report - looks like we have taken over T'turf like in 1977 only a week early - not a Dingle in sight!
.
As for Chelsea - whilst I would not throw the game it could be a chance to experiment? With Birmingham and Burnley up this week we need to pick up min 4 points from those two games (that said with Hull and Burnley we are probably safe now!) and I would be tempted with the injuries we have to save one or two players for those games.
.
Perhaps play Roberts with Kalinic and play Hoilett for pace and give Basturk a try which might surprise Chelsea - at least have a go?
.
March 28th - Rovers all but put "Dingles Down Day"
.

SusieF, the numbers of vocal support on the Darwen End seem to be growing game by game.I've bought season tickets for the Riverside but my daughters love it so much in the Darwen End and now want to relocate.Get yourself and a few mates down for Birmingham on wednesday.Doesn't matter if your male or female, young or old if you enjoy a good laugh and enjoy a good vocal atmosphere. That's the place to be.A young lad who looked like Gael Givet got most stick today but it was all light hearted and i think it made his day!.
