Roque Santa Cruz's home burgled

BURGLARS have struck at Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz's home, threating his wife and two young children with knives.

Roque's wife, Giselle, was forced her to hand over jewellery worth thousands of pounds at the couple's home in Bowdon, Cheshire, on Saturday according to reports.

None of the star striker's family were injured but they are said to have been left very shaken.

Sky Sports today – Bradford Sensational Calendar Credit Crunch Season Ticket and record gates.
“Are you watching John Williams?
Are you watching John Williams?”

Bradford have released a calendar season ticket for 23 games. Price – Adults £99, U16’s half prices, U11 – free. Previous initiatives have already resulted in an average of 13,000 despite their league 2 status which is double what they used to get in the Championship. Such has been the response now they are really going for it in the credit crunch with the new ticket. The Chairman quoted – “WE HAD THOUSANDS OF EMPTY SEATS IN A SMART NEW STADIUM AND WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT?” With a credit crunch on we wanted to do something for the people of Bradford and also make the club the focus of the town.

Not just a great price but a great marketing idea – people can buy them as Xmas presents etc but not just for half a season.
How can a little club come up with such a great idea and we employ all these well paid people to?
There are so many similarities between Rovers and Bradford despite us being in the prem. We are a one town club were the key base of fans come from local families and any extra supporters are likely to come from the same base. Therefore you need to make it attractive to these families financially. We have a superb stadium but only fill half of it with home fans. When prices were reduced last season gates increased and the £1m put aside was not required so we know it can work. Rovers need to be bold and fill Ewood - get the punters through the gate and they will spend on other things and in the club shop etc and with a relegation fight on we need Ewood full of passionate fans not full of empty seats and making games like Liverpool and even Stoke feel like away games.
Come on Mr Williams take the initiative before you retire and do something for the fans to stop you being remembered as the “Man Who Emptied Ewood”.

MORST -

Obviously your "BOYCOTT MAN UTD TICKETS" campaign has paid off.

Rover have announced that they are slashing ticket prices to a mere £40.23!!!

I suggest you all get them in quickly to avoid the rush!

I will of course be writing to the club to obtain the 77 pence refund I am entitled too.

In all honesty though, isn't it ridiculous that they have bothered to display these "revised" ticket prices on the web-site.......

This will really wind you up too Morst. Its 12 QUID on the club coaches from Ewood to Old Trafford!

The internet and TV are the only source I have of watching the rovers now. Yes I was born in Blackburn but now live in Canada since 2005, I have a Canadian family so don't insult them.

Ice hockey for your information is far bigger than soccer and soccer players get paid peanuts compared to hockey players. Check out Ottawa senators from the NHL.

So I am an idiot for feeling sorry for Roque, I was explaining we got burgled in the uk so know how it feels.
Check out Ottawa if you ever visit Canada friendliest city in the world.
I will always be a Rovers fan and like I said the other day spent thousands watching them 1975-2005, but watching them on tv this season every week, home and away games is so painful, thats why I just emailed John Williams as well as others to get rid of Paul Ince. Name another ROVERS manager with a worse record than him in the modern era? Sorry worse record than Kidd and Hodgeson.

Its Hodgson actually. Did both of these managers not waste millions on donkeys though? Ince has had little/no money to spend so its all relative. It seems everybody has made up there minds & wants rid of Ince so its just a matter of time. Its just a shame that from the beginning people have had something against him.

As for Ice Hockey? What a joke. North American sports are all sh1te.

What the f**k is soccer anyway?

I don't care how much Ice Hockey players get paid. Its rubbish

mark from canada says...
3:20pm Tue 2 Dec 08

Sorry for the type error Hodgson.
Would you trust Ince with millions?

Just stating facts worst run of results in 12 years, no fitness levels, hiring a part time defensive coach in London, signing R Fowler.

I have nothing against Ince whatsoever, he was a fantastic player but not ready for this job. Everybody makes bad decisions but they also have to pay the price if they don't work out. How long do you people want to give him? Ince said give me six more games and see where we are..well he's had 15. With the clubs future at stake this season are you all prepared to gamble on him. Changing manager does not guarentee survival but at least give it a shot.

Maybe the Ottawa senators owner might buy the Rovers like the Montreal Canadians did with Liverpool and then pump millions into Rovers. Would you slag off North American sport then?

Oh well better go to work on my ski-doo.

6 things Rovers have achieved that Manchester's Foreign club have not -
1)Founder members and Champions of both Premier and Football leagues.
2)Won the FA CUP 3 times on the run.
3) Won every domestic trophy including the Full Members Cup.
4)Longest ever unbeaten run in the FA Cup ever.
5) 100% home and away record against BARCELONA!
6) Have local rivals we are better than unlike Man U who are now the poor club in their own (ha ha) CITY!

Here's an idea Morst.
Go and watch Bradford. I saw them down at Stanley the other week. Believe me, their tickets are still overpriced in their new offer. If they can get 13000 mugs to watch them,(though I don't think this figure is accurate) it says more about the people of Bradford's low expectations than anything else.

Bit of advice get your facts right before spouting off, there’s always a clever dick (like me) who’ll blast your so called facts -season 1988 & 1989 Bradford City (12,906 & 10,555) had a higher average attendance than Rovers(9,503 & 8,864)

Marghen - also remember to check your memory for unusual factors. I think Bradford were having one of their better spells then and was it just after the fire and there was a big public response to get behind the club after all the emotion?
I remeber going to Bradford in the old div3 and div2 days and they had poor support. But to be getting 13,000 in league 2 (Sky's quote) is awesome and that is before the new £99 Jan-Dec ticket.
As the bRadford Chairman said - whats the point of a nice new stadium full of empty seats - none of you have dealt with these points!
