Whites linked with Bullard as Megson wants more

GARY Megson wants to bring in two more players before the transfer window closes.

The Wanderers boss is desperate to strengthen his squad before the August 31 deadline.

And Megson is rumoured to be interested in Fulham’s Jimmy Bullard, pictured.

The west London club have refused to hold talks with the 29-year-old midfielder over extending his contract, which still has two years left.

And that may tempt the Bolton boss to make a move for Bullard.

The former Wigan ace, who claims he does not want to leave the Cottagers, has been linked with a return to the JJB Stadium, but Megson could hijack any bid as he looks to build on Saturday’s impressive start against Stoke.

The Wanderers manager is also continuing to monitor long-term target, Reading’s James Harper, while former Arsenal midfielder Edu, who says he is open to a return to England after falling out of favour at Valencia, has also been linked with a move to the Reebok.

“I’d like to bring two more in,” admitted Megson, who has been given the green light to continue spending by the club’s owners after splashing more than £18million over the summer on Johan Elmander, Fabrice Muamba, Riga and Danny Shittu.

“We’ve got a good nucleus of a squad now but we’re a little thin in terms of numbers if we get injuries.

“With the money I’ve got to spend I could probably bring in 10 players but they wouldn’t be the right ones. We want to bring two in, I’m hopeful of getting one but, if we don’t, we’ll just have to go with what we’ve got.”
