Charlie Mulgrew played 82 minutes for Scotland against Costa Rica but the Rovers man, captaining his country, couldn’t prevent Alex McLeish’s side falling to a 1-0 home reverse.
Marco Urena’s 15th minute goal separated the sides at Hampden with Ewood skipper Mulgrew replaced by John McGinn eight minutes from time as McLeish’s second spell in charge of his country began with defeat.
Mulgrew and Scotland return to action on Tuesday against Hungary and Rovers fans will be keeping a close eye on the team given that Tony Mowbray’s men are in action against Bradford City in League One just 48 hours after the Scots’ fixture
