MARCUS Antonsson says he is starting to feel a key part of the Rovers side after nailing down a spot on the left side of an attacking trio.

Antonsson was named PFA fans’ player of the month for November after his five goals in as many games last month took him to eight for the season.

The on-loan Swede has looked at his best when utilised from the left and his form has helped ease any concerns about Rovers’ lack of wide options due to injuries to Craig Conway, Harry Chapman and Ben Gladwin within the last month.

Antonsson arrived at Ewood Park as predominantly a central striker but netted in three of Rovers’ four league wins last month as well as in the FA Cup win over Barnet when used from a wider position.

And happy to contribute in a winning team, he said: “This new role out wide is new to me but the more I play there the more comfortable I feel.

“I feel there’s more to come even after five goals and one assist last month.

“The goals are important for my confidence, that’s how it grows for me.

“When I score the goals I feel better with the ball and make better decisions on the pitch.

“I feel I am pushing forward all the time.

“When you win games as a team this is a very nice time to get this award because when the team has won four league games out of four and I have scored in three of them.

“When I can help with scoring goals and the team wins then that is what you want.”

Antonsson said he was always confident that Rovers would overcome a stuttering start to the season to climb the League One table.

They moved in to fourth after a 12 point haul last month and he says there is a determination in the squad for the good run to continue.

“I think we have shown in the games (we’re improving all the time),” the 26-year-old said.

“Offensively we have scored a lot of goals, 13 goals in four games and that says a lot.

“We have a really good back four as we’ve shown so we’re getting better as a team and I knew that from the first day that I came that we had good individuals but it was a new team with new players and it was going to take some time.

“I think we’re seeing now that we’re coming together on the pitch, playing to each other’s strengths and we need to continue that and get better.”
