ROVERS have signed goalkeepers Charlie Albinson and Aaron Dillon following successful trials.

The pair have both put pen-to-paper on one-year deals with the option of a further 12 months and will join up with Damien Johnson’s development squad.

They both played for Rovers' Under-23s side during pre-season, and will now signed permanent deals to become part of Johnson's squad who start their Premier League 2 Division Two campaign against Wolves at Ewood Park this evening (7pm).

Albinson, 20, arrives after leaving Manchester City where he spent 12 years.  Irishman Dillon, also 20,  has spent time training with Liverpool, after spells with both Crewe Alexandra and Galway United.

Their arrival could see Andrew Fisher be given the chance to go out on loan having spent much of pre-season working with the first-team goalkeepers.

Rovers’ goalkeeping coach Ben Benson was delighted to welcome them to the club.

“It’s been an area we’ve been wanting to look at certainly in my two-and-a-half years here, just to add a little bit more competition to what we already have,” Benson said.

“We have young Andy Fisher as well, who is doing really well, and we’re hopeful for him as well in the long-term.

“Bringing these goalkeepers in gives us an opportunity to possibly look towards loan moves and different pathways for the goalkeepers we already have, as well as giving us competition.

“So we are delighted that the two boys have decided to join us and they’ll go straight into the training group, which gives us a really good working group now, so we’re really happy with that.”
