TONY Mowbray says Bradley Dack understands his responsibilities as a footballer at Blackburn Rovers after the midfielder hit the headlines this week.

Dack was pictured outside an Essex nightclub speaking to Love Island star Olivia Attwood, his former girlfriend, on Saturday night.

The midfielder had been given permission by the club to stay down south after the opening game of the season in Southend, which Rovers lost 2-1.

Mowbray revealed he has spoken with Dack since the incident and said there were 'no issues'.

The summer signing from Gillingham, who picked up a slight hamstring injury in the weekend defeat, returned to training with his team-mates today and could feature in Rovers’ home game with Doncaster on Saturday.

“I think I have had everything in my career,” Mowbray said of the incident.

“My first ever day of management in 2003/04 my centre forward had headbutted an Elvis impersonator.

“That was my first time of having to deal with a player who had done something they had regretted.

“I have had a long chat with Bradley and he is actually a great kid.

“He’s only 23 but he understands this is an opportunity for him and he has to kick on in his football career and he can see the rewards of football if he focuses enough, works hard enough and concentrates on all aspects of the game that he needs to improve on.

“He’s been very humble about the mistake he has made of being photographed at a certain time after a negative result, particularly as he had a slight strain and yet there are circumstances around it of which I don’t need to go in to.

“I’m fully on board with Bradley, he’s a young guy and I’ve never said that they have to be monks, they do what young lads do.

“The team had a day off as they didn’t get back until 1.30am and it’s counter-productive to bring them in the next day.

“I have no issues with him, he fully understands his responsibility to the club, the supporters, the owners, myself and his team-mates and I’m looking forward to him getting fit and showing what a talent he is.”
