A FIFTEENTH draw of the season for Rovers at Wolves was not ideal given the position they are in, writes Simon Garner.

At the start of the season when you look at the fixtures you always look to win your home games and draw away, but Rovers have drawn too many games.

Even since Tony Mowbray came in, there have been a lot of draws.

If you had just won a couple of those games, the picture would look a lot better.

Mowbray again went with three at the back and looked to try and nick the game 1-0, as they had done at Nottingham Forest.

And I can understand it why he has done that.

Rovers aren’t scoring goals of late, just three in their last six games, so if they concede first, as they have been doing, it only puts even more pressure on the forwards.

If they can get a 1-0 win by nicking a goal and then defending for their lives, however the results come about, they have to take them.

It does not matter how you win a game, when you pick up the paper and it says 1-0 to Rovers, that’s all that matters.

But this week, I think he will be saying to the players, let’s go for it.

With two games left, it’s obvious they have to find their scoring touch,.

They have to try and win against Villa and take it to the last game of the season at Brentford.  That will be a tough game, I know that, but this is a must-win.

I think Villa are the kind of team that you want to be playing at this stage of the season, especially at home.

The home crowd have to get behind Rovers from the first whistle.

They have nothing to play for, and with just games to go, will already be thinking about the end of the season.

Fortunately the Birmingham result went Rovers’ way on Sunday.

I thought when Gianfranco Zola left Birmingham and they brought in Harry Redknapp it would give them a lift.

But he doesn’t have many games left to turn things around.

Tony Mowbray spoke last week about the pressure that is on his shoulders to keep Rovers in the Championship and there is a lot riding on it.

As a manager when take on a job you know what you’re going in to.

It is a lot of pressure and I can only imagine the stress he is under.

It is not just thinking about the football side of things, people’s jobs are relying on him keeping Rovers up.

It is a lot of pressure, and I have a lot of admiration for managers, I couldn’t do it.

To stay up from here it’s going to be tough, but it has to start with three points this weekend against a side with nothing to play for.
