TONY Mowbray felt Wolves were there for the taking at Molineux but a lack of quality in the final third saw Rovers leave just a point, rather than the three they desired.

Rovers managed just two attempts on target, in a game that lacked quality for the most part, and one that rarely looked like being anything other than 0-0.

It was a result which didn’t help Rovers’ cause to move out of the bottom three, and they are likely to now require two wins from their remaining two games if they’re to avoid the drop.

Head coach Mowbray made four changes, but stuck with the three at the back system they used in their two Easter fixtures.

But he was left disappointed by his side’s quality in the final third.

And on a day where there were wins for Nottingham Forest, Burton Albion and Bristol City, he said: “It was an opportunity missed because the three points were definitely there for us.

“We bossed the ball for long spells, got in to some good areas but ultimately lacked that bit of quality at times to pick the right pass and didn’t have enough men in the box at times.

“I am frustrated that we didn’t take three points but we take the point and move on to the next one.

“The dressing room is pretty desolate, it’s hugely disappointing in a game we felt that we could get three points from.

“We came to win and for long spells we looked the dominant outfit, but you win football matches in the final third and we fell short in that department.

“We didn’t create a host of chances but we had some good opportunities, but the last pass we fell short.

“There are a lot of positives, we controlled the game, came to Molineux and gave them lots of problems with the ball but ultimately you have to finish teams off.

“We gambled the game at the end, threw some more strikers on, the game became more end to end but for long spells we controlled it but were searching for a goal that never came.”

Wolves too struggled to create anything, and their only shot on target didn’t come until added on time.

Rovers sent on Danny Graham, Lucas Joao and Marvin Emnes as they went in search of a goal, but couldn’t repeat the trick of their Good Friday win at Nottingham Forest.

Mowbray added: “Ultimately it wasn’t too dissimilar to the Forest game, we made it difficult for them to break through us, but we didn’t get the goal and that’s why we’re frustrated.

“The game opened up in the last half an hour when we made the changes and if anything they had more chances to break on us.

“For an hour or so didn’t think they were going to get a goal, but sometimes you have to take that gamble to try and get the goal, but it didn’t quite happen for us.

“It was frustrating because I didn’t feel they had a threat until the last 10 minutes or so but it’s a point when it should’ve been three and that’s what is frustrating for us.”
