ROVERS reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings from the 1-1 home draw with Bristol City.

Man of the match: David Raya 7

Made nothing like the quality of save he pulled off late in the Nottingham Forest win, but was forced in to plenty more on his second successive outing.

The pick of the bunch was a low stop to deny Tammy Abraham moments before Rovers levelled through Sam Gallagher.

Showed some good handling in the first half to keep out efforts from Josh Brownhill, Jamie Paterson and Korey Smith, and was left exposed for the goal which Abraham scored in the 14th minute.

His distribution has been sound in both games.

Ryan Nyambe 5

Looked to be the man trying to play offside which allowed Tammy Abraham to steal in behind and put the visitors infront.  Sacrificed at half-time as part of the double switch.

Tommie Hoban 6

Recovered from something of a shaky start to put in a decent showing as he helped snuff out some late Bristol City counter-attacks.  Needs to show more confidence in possession.

Elliott Ward 5

Troubled by the movement of Tammy Abraham and was part of a Rovers backline which was far too static during the early stages.  Won almost all of his aerial battles, however.

Elliott Bennett 6

Deserved booking in a first half in which he struggled.  Moved to right back in the second period, and won more than his fair share of battles, and came up with an excellent cross for Sam Gallagher’s equaliser.

Jason Lowe 6

Struggled to get Rovers moving forward in the first half, but did put himself about in the second period.  Went close to a winner with his second half strike which flashed just wide.

Hope Akpan 5

Gave the ball away in some dangerous areas in the first half and struggled to get to grips with the fluidity of the Bristol City midfield.  Saw efforts blocked in either half.

Derrick Williams 6

Would have been keen to impress against his former employers, and was competitive in his work in both halves.  Struggled to offer much going forward though before being moved to centre half.

Connor Mahoney 6

Used in a more central role in the first-half, but impressed more after the break when he drifted out wide.  Did plenty of good work tracking back.

Liam Feeney 4

Given another chance in the number 10 role, but like four days earlier, failed to make the most of his opportunity.  Lost the ball on too many occasions.

Sam Gallagher 7

Struggled in the air for much of the game against the giant pair of Flint and Wright, but came up with a bullet header to draw Rovers level in the second half.  Looked to have strong claims for a penalty when he appeared to be hauled down in the box soon after.

Subs

Lucas Joao (for Nyambe, 46): 5

Gave Rovers an added presence up front after his second half arrival.  Some nice touches, but most of them came outside of the box as he showed little sign of finding the back of the net.

Craig Conway (for Feeney, 46): 6

Started off on the left wing and ended up at left back after his half-time arrival which gave Rovers an increased thrust down the left as he put in several good crosses.

Marvin Emnes (for Ward, 67): 6

His introduction was the last throw of the dice from Tony Mowbray.  Showed some flashes of what he can offer, and was unlucky not to see a late goalmouth scramble give him a shooting opportunity.

Subs not used: Andrew Fisher, Wes Brown, Willem Tomlinson, Danny Guthrie
