OWEN Coyle says Blackburn Rovers’ owners Venky’s have shown they won’t be dictated to over player exits as speculation over the future of Ben Marshall rumbles on.

Coyle revealed that Rovers are yet to receive a written offer for Marshall, who is out of contract in the summer, despite him attracting interest from former boss Paul Lambert at Wolves.

Blackburn have offered the 25-year-old a new deal at the club, but talks appear to have ground to a halt, as the former Leicester man’s future remains up in the air.

Marshall has missed Rovers’ last three games through injury, but is now back in training and could return to the side for this afternoon’s FA Cup tie at QPR.

“I think the owners have shown that they won’t be dictated to in respect of accepting any offer that teams make for our players,” Coyle said.

“That has resulted in £20million coming in to the club and I think they have shown they will stand their ground for what they consider the right fee.”

And Coyle said Marshall’s focus must remain on Rovers while he remains at the club.

“He is fit and available and is a Blackburn Rovers player,” said the Ewood boss.

“The only thing I need to know from Ben Marshall is that he has that total commitment while he’s at the club.

“He has been training well and I’ve told him that until something happens, he is a Blackburn Rovers player. That’s the way it’s got to be.

“There will be the conjecture and speculation as there always is but until there is such an offer, Ben Marshall will be, as he has been, tuned in to do his best for Blackburn Rovers as he is earning a salary from this wonderful club.”

Coyle is also keen to bring in two or three fresh faces.

Talks are ongoing with Swansea over the future of Marvin Emnes, though Coyle admits he is reluctant to make firm offers to identified targets until he knows what, if any, funds will be made available by Venky’s.

The Rovers boss plans to meet with newly-appointed Football Director Paul Senior in the coming days in a bid to establish a working transfer budget.

“I’ve certainly made enquiries but I’ve been reluctant in terms of offering finances until I know if and what’s available,” added the Rovers boss.

“The last thing that I want to do is lead people up a certain path and getting to the point of pressing the button and you can’t conclude something with transfer fees or such forth.

“I have already lined up a couple of things that could happen, but they would involve a salary, but I’m hoping in the next few days I will get news of that.

“Hopefully I will now have that contact on a daily basis so we can help to move the club forward.”
