THERE’S no such thing as a must win at this point of the season. We’re not going to push for promotion, I’ve just about accepted that, but a succession of positive results at any time in the season will see us climbing the table.

Yes, it would be nice if that started on Saturday, but it’s not the end of our season if it doesn’t.

I do agree with Owen Coyle that performances are improving, yet I’ve heard the same upbeat words and witnessed the same dismal results in similarly doomed seasons.

I WONDER how many must-win games Rovers will be playing this season? The longer we go without a league win, the more likely we will be cast adrift and have to play like champions to make up lost ground.

Unfortunately luck would seem to be in short supply and team morale will inevitably start to suffer as confidence ebbs away.

To call it a must-win game puts negative pressure on players who are still finding their feet in the team. If we continue to lose then Mr Coyle will pay the price.

IT is unusual to say so early on, but given Rovers’ current position, Rotherham, like all games, is a must win. The longer the team goes without a victory, the more likely relegation looks. And after what has already happened this season, I hold little faith that we will be walking out of Ewood Park on Saturday with three points.

The team’s performance against QPR had given renewed confidence that a first win was just around the corner. But it is difficult to find any positives from the disaster at Elland Road.

Rovers should have followed it up with an equally encouraging display and result to match, against a Leeds side that were also low on confidence. However, it was yet another disappointing display that confirmed Owen Coyle is not the man to turn this around.

AFTER Tuesday night’s outcome, the Rotherham game couldn’t be more important. Our run up to December is an incredibly tricky one, playing a lot of the high-flying teams in the league and teams who are on good form. The fact is if we don’t beat Rotherham, you have to ask yourself where the first win is going to come from?

We’ve been unlucky and we’ve been battered so far this season by teams who really aren’t that good, and if we’re not careful we will become the punching bag of the league. Any positives from pre-season have now been completely washed away and we need some kind of momentum from somewhere. If we don’t start to beat teams who quite frankly are beatable then we will never get a run started.

When you completely forget all off-field affairs, you have to realise that this team now is working not only for the league and their own dignity, but also for the fans who love the club.

We need to get a win on the board as a minimum and if it doesn’t come against Rotherham then I’m scared to think of how long we will have to wait.

We have to get ourselves out of the club in which only six others in England find themselves.

It took a home game against a struggling team last year to get our first win, and now hopefully we can replicate that. Otherwise for me the season is already over.
