IT was ironic that we finally got a ‘thriller’ after so many games watching players lurch around like zombies.

And, no, it wasn’t pretty, nor good for the nervous system, but finally we saw some resilience.

There is a long uphill road ahead for Rovers and those without the heart for the fight can’t be tolerated.

The players certainly lack a leader on the pitch.

Jason Lowe is a steady player but no-one’s idea of a Flitcroft, Fazackerley or Nelsen.

MORE TOP STORIES:

Funds must be released for Owen Coyle to bring in an experienced, hungry enforcer who will have a presence in the dressing room and on the pitch.

They aren’t easy to find, but surely such a player has been top of Coyle’s ‘must-have’ list since he inherited this mess and some suitable candidates have been identified.

Or maybe not. How would we know?

Every week I get upwards of 20 texts or e-mails asking searching questions to which either only one man or one family know the answer. I think that is why we get so angry; lack of information and the feeling that we are a hindrance rather than an asset to the club.

The manager – and the owners when they deign to give permission for a ghost-written paragraph – waft up a thin smokescreen to make us look elsewhere.

We’ll never know, whether for reasons of personal business or the Mafia-like omertà of keeping everything ‘in-house’, what really goes on.

Having sat next to the ‘bench’ for league games this season I have – quite understandably – occasionally spent more time watching the management and subs/subbed than focusing on the game.

No, morale is certainly not high. No, players do not like being subbed. No, I’m certain the players can’t hear the manager’s constant barks of advice.

Our only hope lies in players fulfilling that first word of their job title: ‘professional’.

I wish that when I got really fed up with my job (and I do, weekly) and fancied upgrading my career a little that I could dramatically under-perform and then rely on my boss to give me a few days off, with pay.

But enough with the negativity. We are two games unbeaten! Let’s hope Rovers build on that.
