BLACKBURN Rovers have completed the free transfer signing of Republic of Ireland international striker Anthony Stokes on a three-year deal.

The 27-year-old scored 77 goals in 192 games at Celtic, winning four Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and the Scottish League Cup, before his release earlier this month.

Stokes, who was wanted by a host of Championship clubs, finished last season on loan at Hibs.

And he hit two goals in their 3-2 Scottish Cup final victory over Rangers which ended the Edinburgh outfit’s 114-year wait to win the trophy.

Stokes is new Rovers manager Owen Coyle’s first signing since taking over the club.
