Graham scored seven goals in 18 games for Rovers during a successful loan spell from Sunderland in the second half of the season.

The striker will be a free agent in the summer once his contract at Sam Allardyce’s Black Cats expires.

Graham expressed his desire to remain at Ewood Park before boss Paul Lambert announced his decision to leave.

But the 30-year-old has been left in limbo while Rovers continue the search for Lambert’s replacement.

Wigan Athletic, the newly crowned League One champions, are understood to be leading the chase for Graham.

But Birmingham City also want to sign the former Watford and Swansea City frontman who has been linked with Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers.

Lambert urged Rovers to sign Graham on a free transfer after his last match in charge of the club.

He said: “He’s been a revelation since he’s been here and he’ll be sought after, no doubt about it.

“My advice to the club would be to try and sign him. No two ways about it.

“But I don’t know what Danny wants to do. He has to be the judge of that.”
