CROCKED striker Tony Watt said ‘thank you’ to Blackburn Rovers as he spoke for the first time since suffering a season-ending injury.

The Scotland international tore his groin muscle against Preston North End earlier this month and is on a three-month road to recovery after having surgery last week.

Watt signed on loan from Charlton Athletic in January and scored on his Rovers debut in the FA Cup win at Oxford United.

The 22-year-old, who is now back with the Addicks, said: “To work under the gaffer and alongside the boys was fantastic. I really enjoyed it.

“It’s a big club and it can really go places if it wants to. With the management team and everyone around the place, it’s got the right foundations. It just needs people to get behind it.

“To hear the fans singing my name at Oxford, I couldn’t ask for anything else and when I came off against Preston they gave me a round of applause and a good send-off.

“I’m just gutted my time there got cut short and I couldn’t stay and help fight for the rest of the season.

“I want to say thanks to the supporters, thanks to the gaffer, the players and everyone.”
