CHRIS Taylor has caught the eye of his new Blackburn Rovers manager.

Paul Lambert admits that Taylor could count himself unfortunate not to start his first game in charge of Rovers at Preston North End last weekend after impressing in training .

But the midfielder did his chance of getting the nod for tomorrow’s Ewood Park clash with Sheffield Wednesday the power of good with his display off the bench at Deepdale.

Taylor came on for the injured Tom Lawrence in the 33rd minute and it was his storming run into the box that led to the penalty that Jordan Rhodes converted to double an advantage Preston could not claw back.

Lambert said: “I had a chat with Chrissy on Friday because he was very close to starting because he had trained fantastically well.

“We had a chat and I told him what I was thinking. He’s a terrific pro and he accepted it.

“We’re going to need people like that at the football club to achieve something.”
