PAUL Lambert is delighted that the feelgood factor is back at Blackburn Rovers.

But on the eve of his first home game in charge the new Rovers boss admits the hard work has only just begun.

Lambert got his reign off to the perfect start with a derby victory at Preston North End last weekend.

That has only served to ramp up the anticipation for tomorrow’s Ewood Park clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Lambert is fully aware of that fact and, while he says it is important that belief is coursing through the club again, he knows it will take time for his side to become the ‘finished article’.

The 46-year-old, who has been in post for less than a fortnight, said: “I get that there is a feeling that we are on a roll – and you’d rather have that not.

“And it’s important that the fans have that belief that we can go and try and do something.

“The players, too, have that belief that we can go and try and do something.

“But there’s a good bit of hard work to get done here before you can say you’re anywhere near the finished article.

“But the early signs are that we’re on the right road, and that’s what we’re trying to do – get that feeling of goodness that is already here and keep it.”

Rovers will maintain the momentum generated by Lambert’s arrival if they make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season tomorrow.

Standing in their way will be a Sheffield Wednesday side who have lost only one of their last 13 matches in all competitions.

Lambert said: “It’s going to be a really hard game but we’re at home, we’re going to have a big crowd at our back and we’ll be ready for it.

“The game has got to be about us. If we apply ourselves right, and get on that front foot, and play the way I think we can play, I think we’re going to be right in the game.

“We’ve got a duty to entertain the fans and try do everything we can to win the game.

“That’s the way we’ll play while I’m at this club – on the front foot.”

It will be Lambert’s first time in the Ewood dugout after taking over as Rovers manager from Gary Bowyer 12 days ago.

But he said: “It’s not about me. It’s about the fans who are coming to watch us and the players who are playing on the day.

“If those two bounce off each other then we’ve got a really good chance.”
