It is reward for the progress the 18-year-old has made after making 27 appearances for the club’s under-18 side last season.

Platt has scored two goals in two starts for the under-21s this season including the crucial equaliser in the 3-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor in the Under-21 Premier League Cup.

He was also on target on Saturday when the under-18s drew 2-2 at Manchester City.

Fellow defender Scott Wharton, midfielder Willem Tomlinson and striker Lewis Mansell signed pro deals earlier on in the campaign.
