BLACKBURN Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes has been rewarded for his fine form with a recall to the Scotland squad for their make-or-break Euro 2016 qualification double header next month.
Rhodes, who has scored five goals in his last four Championship matches, is joined in Gordon Strachan’s 27-man squad by his Rovers team-mate and captain Grant Hanley.
Scotland welcome Poland to Hampden Park on Thursday, October 8 before travelling to Faro, Portugal, to take on Gibraltar on Sunday, October 11 for their final Group D clash.
Strachan’s side sit fourth in the standings, four points behind the Republic of Ireland in third and six off Poland in second.
Scotland need to take at least four points from their last two matches and hope the Republic of Ireland lose twice to stand any chance of snatching third place and possible qualification.
Rovers midfielder Corry Evans, meanwhile, has been called up by Northern Ireland for their final Group F qualifiers.
A win or two draws, at home to Greece on Thursday, October 8 and away to Finland on Sunday, October 11, would seal Northern Ireland’s place at next year’s finals in France.
