JOSH King will take his time before deciding whether to accept a new contract from Blackburn Rovers.

The 23-year-old attacker, who will be a free agent from July 1, has been offered fresh terms by Rovers.

But he insists he will not be rushed into making a final decision.

“I am using this time to think and we’ll see what happens,” said King, who has scored eight goals in 74 appearances for Rovers.

“I’ve been at Blackburn for two-and-a-half years and I’ve not played as much as I would have liked.

“They’ve promised me more time next year if I stay as their main striker.

“I need time to think about it because it’s an important decision in my career.”

King, in an interview with Norwegian media, stressed his dissatisfaction at starting this season on the bench.

The Norwegian finished the 2013-14 campaign in flying form and was also one of Rovers’ most impressive performers in pre-season.

But, after Rudy Gestede returned from the illness that sidelined him for most of the summer, he was restricted to two Championships starts before an injury sustained on international duty in October ruled him out for two months.

King continued to be blighted by knocks before his season exploded into life in February when he scored a sensational hat-trick in the stunning FA Cup win over Stoke City.

But 10 days later he pulled his hamstring and he did not return to action until the final two games of the campaign.

King, who made eight starts in all competitions in 2014-15, has not ruled out signing the three-year deal Rovers are believed to have offered him.

But the former Manchester United trainee says he also has interest from elsewhere in England as well as Scotland, Germany and Austria.

King is currently back in his homeland, training with his boyhood Valerenga, ahead of Norway’s Euro 2016 qualifier at home to Azerbaijan on June 12.

He said: “We stopped early this year, nearly a month before the national team play, so I have to keep going. “
