Boss talk: Walter Smith

How pleased were you with the 2-0 victory over Hibs?

It was a big result for us. It's a hard venue to come to and leave with all three points so we've got to be happy at winning the game. I thought we worked really hard, kept things tight at the back and held strong in the second half as Hibs tried to put us under pressure. It sets us up nicely for our Uefa Cup match during the week and obviously helps us in our attempts to finish second in the SPL.

Charlie Adam netted two goals from set-pieces. How happy have you been with his contribution?

He strikes the ball well and is always a danger to opposing teams because of that. His first goal was a great strike and he showed great vision to see the gap. The second involved a bit of luck but he'll be happy to score a double. I think that's him reached double figures now, which is a good return.

The defence managed to hold strong and not give much away, that must have been pleasing?

Of course it was. Davie Weir and Ugo Ehiogu are experienced players and the entire back four were solid. We knew Hibs would come out in the second half and try and put us under pressure, but we managed to hold firm and our goalkeeper made a couple of good saves when he was called upon.

What did you think of Kevin Thomson's performance in his first return to Easter Road since leaving Hibs during the transfer window?

I thought he handled it well and he'll be pleased to get that one out of the way.

Do you have any fresh injury worries ahead of Thursday night's Uefa Cup clash with Osasuna?

No. Everyone seems to have come through the game without any problems. Obviously we'll still be without the guys who are longer-term, but the rest are fine.

Was your decision not to give Stefan Klos some match practice ahead of the game a difficult one to make?

We didn't feel there was a lot to benefit from not playing Allan McGregor, even although he will miss Thursday's game because of suspension. Stefan is experienced enough to handle the situation and we didn't feel that one game before the tie would have made a massive difference.
