A SECURITY guard was attacked and robbed of more than £100,000 by a masked raider.

The 49-year-old was making a delivery at a Clydesdale Bank ATM when the raider struck. After attacking the guard, the raider fled with four grey cash boxes. He was driven away in a blue Audi by another man.

The incident happened around 9.30 last night at the bank in Cumbernauld Road, Muirhead.

Although badly shaken, the guard did not require medical attention.

Police hunting the robbers today urged anybody with information to come forward. Detective Inspector Keith Webb of Cumbernauld CID said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.

"Although not seriously injured, this was a particularly frightening incident for the security guard involved.

"We are anxious to speak to anyone who may have information that can assist with our inquiry.

"In particular, we are keen to gather information relating to the vehicle involved, which we believe to be a blue Audi."

One suspect is described as white, about 6ft, wearing a balaclava and a brown quilted jacket.

There is no description of the other male.
