THE man accused of killing Polish student Angelika Kluk in a Glasgow chapel made his first public court appearance today.
Peter Tobin, 60, is accused of murdering and raping the 23-year-old in St Patrick's Church, Anderston.
It's alleged that between September 24 and September 29 last year, Tobin assaulted Angelika, placed a piece of cloth over her mouth, covered her mouth with tape, bound her hands and raped her.
Tobin is also charged with repeatedly striking Angelika on the head with a piece of wood or similar instrument, repeatedly striking her on the body with a knife or similar instrument, and murdering her.
In addition, Tobin has been charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice by concealing her body under the flooring.
He was represented by QC Donald Findlay when he appeared at the High Court in Glasgow for a preliminary hearing before Lady Dorrian.
A further preliminary hearing will be heard at the High Court in Edinburgh on March 1, and the trial is due to start on March 19 at the same court.
