A DOUBLE dose of reality' is set to dominate the TV screens in the coming weeks, following the unveiling of the new season of Celebrity Big Brother and the launch of Soapstar Superstar.
The line-ups, from less-than-A list celebs to pop wannabes and has-beens, includes glitz and glamour, wrinklies and rockers and the simply weird.
It was a surreal beginning to this year's Celebrity Big Brother as legendary film director Ken Russell belted out Singing in the Rain to a bemused crowd of onlookers.
He was one of the 11 famous faces who last night joined the competition to last the full 25 days on the show. The celebrities had an early chance to get up close and personal when they discovered there were just 10 beds.
Popstar Jo O'Meara was slowest off the mark and landed the double bed, meaning she had to share with moody rocker Donny Tourette, a prospect she did not appear to relish.
And a veritable feast of telly favourites have tuned up ahead of the start of this year's series of Soapstar Superstar.
The singing showdown, starting tomorrow, includes Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon, who plays sexy Delilah Dingle, and fellow Emmerdale actress Verity Rushworth.
Contestants will have 24 hours to learn their songs before singing live, then TV viewers get the chance to vote on their favourite performers, also judged by a panel of experts.
