HIBS have made a move to land Motherwell keeper Graeme Smith on a pre-contract with a view to signing the 25-year-old on a three-year deal.

Smith has been attracting interest from several Championship sides, with Nottingham Forest and Cardiff understood to have been monitoring his situation But Hibs have faxed Fir Park with a letter of intent, and Easter Road officials will speak to the player and his agent.

Well have tabled an offer of a new deal to their keeper, but he seems certain to leave after three years at the Lanarkshire side.

Meanwhile, Falkirk skipper Darren Barr wants a crackdown on cheats after claiming Inverness midfielder Russell Duncan deliberately tried to get him sent off in the recent Scottish Cup quarter-final.

Barr blasted: "Maybe the managers or the Players' Union could sort something out, but it's hard because it's all in the ref's head.

"I'd love to see a greater emphasis on stopping this kind of behaviour. Something could be done if people sit down and talk about it."

Hearts striker Mike Tullberg is in line to make a shock Edinburgh derby debut having arrived back in Scotland following a three-month injury rehabilitation in his native Denmark.

The 23-year-old has only made two appearances for the Jambos after suffering a thigh muscle injury.

But he said: "I'm fit and ready for action. Ever since the deal was done to bring me to Scotland I have been going through an absolute nightmare.

"I never thought I was going to be out for so long, but I'm feeling good and, hopefully, everything is behind me.

"We have the derby this weekend at Easter Road and who knows what could happen."
