SCOTSMAN-TURNED-DUTCH hockey international Laurence Docherty may have had an issue with Great Britain five years ago when he switched sides... but it was good to hear he had not forgotten old friends.

The Edinburgh-born 28-year-old helped his adopted nation narrowly beat GB 1-0 in their second match of Pool B, severely denting home medal hopes, with the Dutch being denied on several occasions by Scotland goalkeeper Alastair McGregor.

Docherty, who became disillusioned with the GB selection procedure in 2003 and opted to play for the country where he played his club hockey, was a Scotland Under-21 team-mate of the Loughborough star and was pleased to see his old pal back in top form.

"Alastair is a great goalkeeper," was the Bloemendaal midfielder's opinion of Aberdonian McGregor's performance.

The Dutch, who harbour high hopes of lifting the gold medal - along with favourites Australia and Germany - also beat China 1-0 in a group match earlier today. Dan the man

BRITISH gymnast Dan Keatings finished a creditable 20th in the men's individual all-around final today.

However, the 18-year-old from Corby is a prospect for London 2012 and was never expected to challenge for the medals.

"I've been watching the Olympics on the television over the last few years and it is just great to be at a Games," he said.

"I'm definitely looking forward to London, this has been a great experience."
