ALMOST 2000 Glasgow pupils are participating in a series of primary sports festivals in the city.
The annual competitions, organised by Glasgow City Council's PE specialists, have become important dates in schools' sporting calendars.
The events are a chance for pupils to enjoy sport and improve fitness.
More than 100 pupils will take part in a Mini-Handball competition tomorrow at the Kelvin Hall, while around 1000 children will run in the Glasgow Primary Schools Cross Country championships at Nether Pollok on March 7. Later next month, 800 pupils will be at the Kelvin Hall for the annual Scottish Country Dance Festival.
Councillor Gordon Matheson, executive member for education and social renewal, said: "It is so important youngsters have the chance to take part in sport."
