ANDY MURRAY recovered from a set down to beat Stanislas Wawrinka in a thrilling see-saw battle in the second round of the Open 13 in Marseille today.

In a repeat of the Qatar Open Final, which the Scot also won in three, Murray appeared to be in trouble after an opening set-and-a-half which featured nine breaks of service.

However, he displayed an iron will to force his way back into the match and eventually claimed a 3-6, 7-6 (7/5), 6-1 win in a little over two hours and 20 minutes.

Murray, the world number 11, will now face Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, ranked 44th, in the last eight.

Meanwhile, David Nalbandian believes Murray put himself before his country when pulling out of Great Britain's Davis Cup tie in Argentina.

Nalbandian was part of the home team that completed a straight-forward 4-1 success over John Lloyd's men.

British No.1 Murray withdrew from the tie, citing a recurring knee problem that could be aggravated by playing on clay.

Nalbandian said: "He did not want to come here, that's all. If he had come, the tie would have had a special taste, because if you come with a top-10 player your opponents respect you more."

CRICKET: Scotland have recalled Dougie Lockhart for their ICC Intercontinental Cup clash against Namibia in April.

The 32-year-old batsman, who made his debut in 1995, has recovered from knee surgery and is in line for his first appearance since last year's World Cup.

Coach Peter Steindl has named a strong squad, captained by Ryan Watson, who will be able to call on the experience of Craig Wright and Gavin Hamilton.

Greenock all-rounder Richie Berrington, 20, is included as the youngest member.

The Scots leave on March 26 and their four-day match against Namibia begins on April 4.
