A HAIRDRESSER today offered a £500 reward for the return of a prized Peter Howson artwork.

Glasgow stylist Ian Ronald is prepared to stump up the cash after the signed print, worth around £1000, was stolen.

As reported in last week's Evening Times, a thief ruined the top hair stylist's night of glory by swiping the print, given to him to mark 20 years of service.

It was taken from the city's Thistle Hotel car park the morning after a gala dinner just over two weeks ago.

Ian, who runs the Cardonald branch of JR's Hair Studios, was presented with a trophy and the print at the bash attended by 400 people.

It was thrown as a thank-you to JR's staff and was hosted by comedian Andy Cameron.

Ian, 37, was over the moon to receive the Howson print - but now all he has is a photo of it taken on the night. The print, titled Nimrod, depicts a boxer with a clenched fist.

Ian admired the piece and a passing remark to his dad John, 61, led to him and wife Lyn, 60, choosing the signed print for Ian - it is marked 1/100 - to mark his achievement.

Ian said: "I am prepared to offer a £500 reward for information leading to the recovery of the print.

"I know how much trouble my parents went to getting the print, as they knew what would it mean to me.

"For that reason I'm determined to see it returned. I don't care if it's handed in to one of our six salons - I will honour the reward."

As well as Cardonald, JR's operates in Dennistoun, Scotstoun, Mosspark, Ibrox and Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire.

Ian added: "I only had the print for a matter of hours and when I went to pack up the following morning I placed it next to my car in the underground car park.

"Moments later after I returned from the reception area it had gone. I'm gutted."
