A 15-year-old was arrested today by detectives investigating the murder of Rhys Jones.
The 11-year-old was gunned down a week ago today by a youth on a BMX bike in the car park of a pub in Liverpool.
A force spokesman said: "I can confirm a 15-year-old local boy was arrested on suspicion of murder this morning."
He described the arrest as "new". Ten other youths have already been held on suspicion of murder over the past week, with six bailed and four released without charge.
The move came as police renewed appeals for information.
Officers were out in force around the Fir Tree pub in Croxteth, where Rhys was shot at around 7.30pm last Wednesday.
Police were stopping members of the public and drivers to talk about Rhys' death in the hope of finding fresh witnesses.
The inquiry appears to have been met by a reluctance from witnesses to reveal their identities or give signed statements.
Police have been keen to get the message out they can and will shield the identities of those who help catch the killer.
Special measures have been agreed with the Crown Prosecution Service to ensure those who give evidence in court can use video links or sit behind a screen.
Assistant chief constable Patricia Gallan said: "People are calling Crimestoppers and that is fantastic. All the information we have received will be acted upon.
"We now need to make that information into witness statements. That can be a big step for people concerned for their identity. But special measures can be taken to protect them in the courts."
A tip-off shifted attention yesterday from the crime scene to Dam Wood, a mile away, where 46 officers and sniffer dogs began searches.
Police refused to say what they are looking for, but have said they plan to scour the whole area.
Last night, the football-mad youngster's mum Melanie, 41, dad Stephen, 41, and brother Owen, 17, were given a standing ovation by fans at Anfield, before Liverpool's Champions League match.
