EVENING Times reader Terry Primrose of Strathaven took this image of ships off Greenock back in 1960.
It shows the Empress of Britain, white, in the background, at the Tail o' the Bank, being tendered by the Caledonian Steam Packet's Caledonia.
The Empress, built at Fairfield yard, Govan, in 1956, has had an illustrious career. In 1964 she went to Greece as the Anna Maria. By 1975 she was one of two ships on the Carnival Cruise Line before returning to Greece.
Today, she is still plying the world's oceans as the Topaz. Not bad at 51!
Aye, they knew how to build ships back then.
