MARC TWADDLE could be the next Partick Thistle star to head through the exit door.
SportTimes under-stands St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes has made a second inquiry about the 22-year-old.
And, if McInnes fails in his efforts to land Dundee United left-back Danny Grainger, the McDiarmid Park manager is sure to return for Twaddle with a £60,000-plus bid.
McInnes made his first swoop for the former Falkirk player last summer, but was given short shrift by the Jags.
However, with Falkirk boss Eddie May already having had a £40,000 plus two players deal knocked back and St Mirren also keeping tabs on the player, his days at Firhill appear numbered.
Thistle boss Ian McCall has three mystery trialists in for pre-season, with another to arrive in time for Saturday's closed-door game with Cowdenbeath.
The Jags boss is desperate to strengthen following the loss of Gary Harkins, as exclusively revealed in later editions of yesterday's Sport-Times to Dundee.
And McCall has revealed his delight at how new signing from Kilbirnie Ladeside Chris Erskine has shown up.
The Jags boss said: "Chris has settled in really well and with us now having Paul Cairney back from Queen's Park and ready to challenge for a place in the midfield, we have two fresh faces in there.
"But although the Junior market is one we will continue to keep an eye on we can't keep going back there if we want to maintain our presence in the top half of the table.
"The fans will be looking at the loss of Gary and saying how are we going to cope?
"But last season we weren't quoted and it was all about St Johnstone and we took them all the way. So we will see how things go. But there will be players coming in."
