TWO men have denied being involved in a £15,000 robbery after being caught 90 minutes later with purple dye on their clothing.
The High Court in Glasgow heard Christopher Dickson, 23, and Jamie Robertson, 24, were originally charged with robbing two Group 4 Securicor guards of the cash on December 31 at Neilston Road, Paisley.
Yesterday they admitted a reduced charge of resetting the money at Auchenlodment Road, Johnstone.
Prosecutor Neil Beardmore said that the two were covered in the dye when they tried to open a money box with a Stihl saw. Both men when questioned denied any involvement in the robbery. Eye-witnesses claimed that the robbers were aged 14 or 15.
On January 2 the box with the money still inside was found by a dog walker in a field near Auchenlodment Road.
It had been tampered with and an attempt had been made to open it using a Stihl saw and dye was leaking from it.
Judge Lord Turnbull deferred sentence on Dickson and Robertson, both from Paisley, until next month.
