CONSTRUCTION of a new supermarket in Frinton is on track after its steel frame was successfully completed.
The new Sainsbury’s store is being built in Connaught Avenue as part of a major redevelopment of a row of shops.
Contractors have been on-site for several months, demolishing empty units to make way for the new supermarket.
The completion of the steelwork marks the halfway stage of the construction programme.
Millbrook Land, which is overseeing the redevelopment, is now on track to hand the building over to Sainsbury’s at the end of May.
The store will then be fitted out and ready to open in July.
Millbrook Land spokesman Gerald Knight said he was “delighted” with the progress.
The overall plan includes demolishing five shops and replacing them with four new stores and eight flats.
Sainsbury’s will fill the biggest of the new units with a 3,000 sq ft Local store.
