TWO loveable puppies abandoned in Glasgow on Christmas Eve have finally found a new home.

Collies Oliver and Dodger were dumped at just five weeks old.

But by luck they were found by a passer-by who handed them into the Scottish SPCA Cardonald Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Now they have been adopted by a family from nearby Howwood, Renfrewshire who read of the pups' plight after it was reported in the Evening Times.

The dogs are settling in with Fergus and Marie Phillips and their two children Chloe, 10, and Jack, aged five.

Mrs Phillips said: "Our labrador passed away in October so we have been visiting the rescue centre looking for a new family pet.

"When we read about Oliver and Dodger we thought they would be perfect so we brought the kids along to meet them.

"They all got along great and we're delighted to be able to offer them both a home.

"Chloe and Jack delighted."

Anna O'Donnell at the centre said: "Sadly we see lots of unwanted animals abandoned or dumped on us over Christmas."

Abandoning an animal is an offence and could land the culprit with a £5000 fine and six months in prison.
