Robert Mugabe yesterday declared the country's cholera outbreak under control as the death toll continued to rise.
The United Nations put the figure at 783, with nearly 16,500 cases of infection reported.
Last week, Zimbabwe declared a health emergency because of cholera and the collapse of its health services.
But yesterday Mugabe insisted the outbreak was under control with the help of the World Health Organisation and other agencies.
