SCOTLAND's noisiest museum will fire back into life tomorrow - with a little help from the Evening Times.

After two years and £10million of work, Summerlee Heritage Park in Coatbridge re-opens to the public and we are going to be there to support it.

We are media partner of the museum of industrial life which features a host of new exhibits.

Evening Times banners hang from the vintage lamposts and tramcar 53, a former Glasgow Corporation tram, will carry the Evening Times logo on its sides and posters inside the cabin.

The miners' cottages - a row of homes which show how people lived in Scotland from the 1840s to the 1960s - have copies of the Evening Times from each decade telling everyone what was happening in Glasgow and the west at the time.

Almost every part of the site has been renovated or improved - and already inspected by P7 pupils of Aitken-bar Primary, Dumbarton, who won a trip to be the first into the renovated Summerlee.

They saw the extended main exhibition hall which has more exhibits and even more noise than before!

One of the main exhibits, the old Cardowan Winding Engine which helped send Lanarkshire's miners hundreds of feet underground to the coal face, was sent to Wales for a complete overhaul.

And a nationwide hunt was launched to find a Singer Chamois, a car made from local steel.

The museum's curators managed to find a pristine model three weeks ago.

Invest-ment has extended to staff training, with some being sent to Blackpool to learn how to drive trams and others receiving a steam roller licence so they can drive some of the exhibits around the site.

It promises to be a great era for the biggest museum in Scotland devoted to the country's industrial heritage.

The Evening Times will keep you updated with all the news and goings-on at Summerlee - including tomorrow's gala reopening.

Summerlee assistant manager Tommy Gallagher said: "The new Summerlee will be amazing.

"Everyone is really excited about the opening tomorrow and thanks to the help of the Evening Times it is sure to be brilliant."

Summerlee Heritage Park, Heritage Way opens at 11am tomorrow with the Lord Provost cutting the ribbon.

Entry is free.
