A MAN was sexually assaulted after being punched in the face by a stranger as he walked to a Subway station in Glasgow.

The 29-year-old was approached on a footpath near Kelvinbridge Underground, in the West End, around 11pm. A police spokeswoman said: "The man was approached by another male who then punched him and indecently assaulted him."

Detectives said the victim managed to break free and run down the pathway to safety.

He was badly shaken, but did not require hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Scott Bruce of Partick CID, who is leading the hunt for the attacker, said today: "This was a frightening ordeal for the victim."

The indecent assault took place around 11.05pm on October 31. The attacker ran away in the opposite direction along the path, which runs alongside the River Kelvin.

The suspect is Asian, around 6ft with a thin build.

Police have appealed for anybody with information on Friday's night's assault to contact them. Officers have also renewed an appeal for information following another sex attack in Glasgow.

A 19-year-old woman was assaulted in a stairway in Wallace Street, Tradeston, around 4.10am on Monday.

The attacker was Asian, around 6ft 1in, in his mid-to-late 20s with black spiky hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black and grey striped jumper with a round neck.

Detective Constable John Stewart of Govan CID said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging around the area."
