Aside from a few tweaks, and perhaps a new box of glowsticks, the line-up is reassuringly predictable - this year Ferry Corsten headlines the event as he did back in 2005. Judge Jules, Seb Fontaine, Dave Pearce and the Tidy Boys make it two in a row and familiar faces such as the Colours residents Jon Mancini and Iain "Boney" Clark give the event a continuity that the crowds seem to appreciate.

Last year's Coloursfest sold out once again, with nearly 10,000 clubbers packing in to the Braehead Arena. Many dance promoters from south of the border have tried and failed to establish a major dance festival in Scotland and when Coloursfest launched in 2002, few gave it much hope of hanging around for long.

Five Coloursfests later and the event has been a complete success, and increasing attendances have consistently been rewarded with bigger line-ups. It reaches 50 DJs and live acts this weekend.

One disappointment this year is the absence of Mauro Picotto who was forced to pull out for family reasons. In his place, however, comes rising Dutch star Bart Claessen, a young trance-techno DJ and producer who is expected to break through in 2007. Keen ears will recall his 2005 summer hit, Playmo.
