YOU needed just one viewing of it to know that Blackburn Rovers’ immediate equaliser against Swansea City was a goal of genuine quality.

But is it only when you look back at it in its entirety that you realise just how good it actually was.

Within 90 seconds of falling behind to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s stunning long-range strike Rovers were level.

And remarkably replays show that Swansea did not touch the ball once after the game had restarted in the centre circle.

From the kick-off every outfield member of the Rovers team touched the ball in a patient and probing 33-pass move that was finished off in some style by Chris Taylor.

Little wonder, then, it left Gary Bowyer and his coaching staff purring.

“After matches we always look at things we’ve done well and things we can improve on and that was one of the most impressive things on Saturday,” said Rovers boss Bowyer.

“We conceded a goal but we didn’t start panicking, we just stayed level.

“It was a wonderful goal because of the number of passes involved, the build up and the link play, and the finish itself.

“It shows what these players are capable of.”

It was Taylor’s third goal in two FA Cup games this season after he scored twice in Rovers’ 2-1 third-round win at Championship rivals Charlton Athletic.

And Bowyer said: “Chris Taylor has done ever so well in cup games for us and we just feel he can score in them.

“We challenged him before Saturday’s game to score in every round we play in and, fair play to him, so far he’s done that.”
