GARY Bowyer says he will give midfielder Tom Cairney and defender Adam Henley every chance of making themselves available to face Brentford tomorrow.

Both missed last weekend’s home defeat with Sheffield Wednesday, which ended Rovers’ nine-game unbeaten run.

But Bowyer hasn’t ruled out either of them being available for the trip to the capital, while Josh King (back) and Matt Kilgallon (knee) are battling back to fitness, and Jason Lowe could be named in the squad for the first time in more than three months.

“We’ve made progress on certain people this week. We’re going to give everybody as long as possible,” said Bowyer.

“Certainly before training (today) we’ll have a better idea of who is going to be fit and available for us.”

With Tommy Spurr on the road to recovery following surgery to repair his groin injury, with a view to a new year comeback, Rovers boss Bowyer is looking forward to the selection dilemmas that come with a fully fit squad.

“It’s something that we’ve strived to get to and it’s important.

“Hopefully we can get a clear run from injuries and then we can have that problem. We’ve probably only had it for about a week or two when we’ve had selection problems in terms of getting people in the squad and close to leaving people out.

“That’s what we want, because that’s what drives people on.”

Given the versatility of players such as Kilgallon and Lowe, Bowyer admits that only adds to his options.

“That’s something we spoke about in the summer with the people that we brought in and the flexibility they brought into the squad,” he said.
